    So I just got fired

Target claims I was following unsafe work practices, which is a giant load of shit. I was in my 90 day period and the HR manager is a bitch to everyone (they get complaints from customers about her all the time), and she basically tore me a new asshole in front of one of my friends last night about how I suck and she could do my job better blah blah. Long story short, I got canned.

Does anyone need a grease monkey at a shop in SoCal? I can do oil changes and fluid flushes and I am willing to learn how to do other stuff involving mechanics. Please help me out, the job market around here is absolutely fucked and I don't know what else to do. I would prefer slightly above minimum wage, but I'll take minimum. At least 30 hours a week would be nice, but I'm flexible. Please help me out guys. I work hard and you'll never hear me tell you I won't do a job unless I'm absolutely certain I can't do it.

Are there any other similar retailers in your area where you can apply to? These places hire extra help for the holiday shopping season. Even if the ecomony is stinking right now, they're still going to up the game a bit so folks open their wallets.

Yeah, I've worked for Wal-Mart in the past. Same kind of bullshit management antics. Also, I can't do a seasonal job, my mom's moving to oregon soon and I'm staying in California so I need a steady job to move out on and save some money.

Don't you have to be super skilled mechanic for the UAW?

You're lucky they even gave you a reason. Within that 90 probation period, they can fire you for whatever stupid-ass reason they come up with, they're not even legally obligated to give you one.

Not to be a jerk but if you have had several jobs (not that you have-but at least a couple) and the management seems like assholes, hacks etc, maybe the problem isn't with management. Just a thought.

If your a kid, you are at the bottom of the totem pole. Can't do anything about that. Do what the bosses say and be done with it.

Generally a boss won't be bitchy if everyone is doing there job. Work isn't supposed to be fun in games. If it were they wouldn't be paying you.

I could very well be off base here. Just a thought.

I agree. When someone states "management antics" it throws up a red flag in my book. Why would they fire you unless they have a good reason. Good people are hard to find, if you are so good, then there should be no reason to get rid of you. i suggest you take a step back, look at the reason they fired you, and ask yourself "If I were in their shoes, would I have fired someone for this?" If you are as good as you imply, you probably would have.
Why don't you let us know honestly what "unsafe" practices you were involved in. In the corporate retail world, one unsafe act can lead to a hefty lawsuit.

I would agree with you 100% on the bitchy part, but I'm not the only one who's had problems with this specific manager. Apparently the customers have filed many complaints against her because of her attitude, as well as other employees.

I've only run into this problem at 2 of my 5 jobs, both of which happened to be retail, so it seems kind of like a pattern to me. It always seems to be the ones who have been there forever too.

The only two unsafe things I did were loading up the cart machine with 4 too many carts, and once i used the machine to push the inside rows over to straighten them out (they were anal about that). I was talked to about both of these, and I didnt do them after it was brought up. However, my actual manager, and not the one that did the paperwork to can me, said that there's a bunch of these "coachings" on file that I was never aware of, nor was I talked to about them. I can understand being written up if they felt that my performance wasnt up to par, or at least talking to me, but I was never spoken to about any of these supposed incidents. I'm not trying to claim they're 100% at fault, I just dont understand how two incidents, both of which management had never had a problem with previously, blew up into 10 supposed write ups.

If they fired you due to loading 4 too many carts in a motorized cart pusher, then your days were numbered anyway. They wanted you gone.

Find a smaller company to work for where the employees are treated more like family. The big companies may not be suited for you. Get in at a euro repair shop with enough bays that they need a lot boy who can also perform some oil changes. Cars always need to be fixed.
