or can you gain more by making it a similar design, but smaller so you have more velocity VS larger bore and slower velocity

If you read the original post all the way through I think you would see that why was my original question.

No... I think Steve Dinan beat him to it. (now there's a guy there is no point in arguing with)

I did. I think you should go threw with your plans. also I noticed when I did the M30 AFM it made my car run very lean untill I did the injectors to match, doesn't that mean it flows better than the stock AFM? but I do see how a bigger door could mean a bigger restriction.

                You're missing it...

It's not a question of restriction but velocity...

Yes kind of... It's a little bit more complicated than that.

If the induction uniformly draws more air through a larger volume it wouldn't be the case.

EDIT: I don't know if I can make sense of it to you without illustration...

                      .

like a velocity stack or a venturi effect to keep the air speed up and on as straight a path as possible.

i think i get your drift. i messed around with something similar, waaaay back in the mid 90's with CIS-E on VW's

Yes on the V stack to align the air initially entering the induction.

The big trick is to keep the flow accelerating in a uniform fashion from the inlet to the combustion chamber...And ultimately to the tailpipe.

The optimum is a straight line (but not a smooth bore) but not really practical under the hood.

I was pretty much this way long before they all started driving...
