That's why they make "I" lips..... lol, never had a problem with one of those. ... actually my 89 325i that I bought still had one on it as well...

Coincidentally, I bought a volvo lip to possibly replace my I lip. On my commute home my i lip got ripped off in the pouring rain the day I got my volvo lip. So I didn't have much of a chance to compare, I'm still not sure, but I like the flexibility of the volvo lip.

Firstly, I can't imagine someone stealing my lip with my zipties unless they have time, knew where they were, brought something to cut them with etc. Secondly, it is a proven fact that with zipties, you will not run over your lip and it will still be on your car after small animals or whatever. Thirdly, you install the zipties loosely. They are not there to mount the lip but to keep it on the car if you hit something.
As far as stealing the lip, if I were to steal one, I wouldn't fk with it if I knew they were ziptied on. Mostly from the inside.
My point is just between risking it getting stolen, and risking breaking it on something, I'd rather risk getting it stolen, considering I've knocked it off twice, and no one has tried to steal it.
Now that I've said this, someone is gonna go steal my lip, that's how things have been going lately with my car...

So far no nothing stolen...
But my wheel lugs were loosened up a few times...
I actually caught the guy that was doing it.

I would rather buy a new is lip (150) than have to pay for a new valance (500 with paint) after mine gets bent up from zip tie bs.
The squirrel I hit going 75 snapped it clean off. I drove over it with both axles, it smacked the front of a Jetta and who knows what else on that freeway in the next 8 hours. Went back that night, picked it up, clipped it on, and there it sits. No replacement needed.
I guess "High school drama class beard" sounds a lil better regarding the clit lip, er volvo.

I like my cheap high school play beard. However, if you all would like, you're more than welcome to buy me an IS lip.

I've knocked it off twice...I don't wanna go into details, but it would have been broken, and needed to be replaced anyway.Originally posted by E30 Groupie View PostIve hit two small animals, both ripping mine off. Drove over it on the freeway even. Still clips on the car and look fine. If I had zipties or other non oem mounting, it would have caused damage to my valence.

I doubt it for many reasons but mainly, anyone that is willing to risk going to jail, getting their asses beat, stabbed or possibly shot (I live in Texas) over a $100 part, would not plan some sort of revenge.
I am also of the mind talk softly and carry a big stick, but unfortunately ....
