    Less money I think...

I am looking into a simpler and more elegant design to protect the pan from catastrophic damage than just a massive guard under the front of the car.

And we belive it's something John can fabricate at a reasonable price.

      How about aerodynamic things?
I like to hit 150mph sometimes.

That's something I'm willing to pay for
      if the price is reasonable.

        Fab up one of these:

        And a solution to this:

There should be a decent amount of interest in these as G graves starts producing the oil temp, pressure gauges.

Not any simple bolt on out of the box solutions here.

But I will think on it...

The correct placement for an oil temperature sensor really is right in the oil pan, at the cooler/filter block you will get falsely elevated and intermittant lower oil temp readings.

Oil pan with same or more capacity, but more ground clearance.

                That....

                Is a really good idea...

Kind of complicated and definitely not cheap.

Wider sump...baffles... the pump would need modification as well..

Could be fabed from a stock pan core...

                Hmmm...

Edit: Might as well dry sump the engine though.

... becasue you don't have any.

Eric's skid plate sits ~1/2" below the oil pan... I'd prefer the protection of his plate any day. The OEM debris guard is a joke.

Because it costs huge money to obtain this kind of data...

And why is this such a big deal to you?

Why not a cheap 5 lug conversion? I would snag one in a heartbeat.

@2255 probably now closer to 2350 or so (putting some things back since it became my DD)

What kind of data would back that up for you?

A shot of the car on a scale?

Well I don't have one. It's just not a big enough deal for me to shoot something like that.

Tell you how it was done?

                              Like anyone would fucking listen....

This is what I do professionally... Not just one or 2 cars since I learned to drive (my bet on 90% of this forums demographic) but hundreds of BMW chassis over the past 25 some odd years...

What's unsafe about a larger diameter, redrilled front bearing?
