Good news!!
Looks like the FIA got overruled, or didn't read the rules so that stupid new point system isn't going to fly this season!!!

I don't think that the FIA's most wins system has been thrown out yet, but if the teams would like they can protest and reach an agreement on it.
And I'm not sure I agree with some of you when you say you'd rather a driver who didn't win but was consistently up there win the championship. If they didn't manage to win races then why should they win the championship? I think it'll definitely make races more interesting towards the end, no more shutting the revs down etc. FIGHT TIL THE DEATH!!! Winner takes all.
Also, McLaren will be up towards the front in Melbourne, they picked up their act in Jerez right at the end.
It'll be interesting; Ferrari, McLaren, BMW... Brawn??
Who's willing to put a tenner on Brawn qualifying on the front row - 1st or 2nd?
I can't wait to get to Melbourne! I need to hear how loud they are again!!!

It's very difficult to win a championship without winning at least one race, so that argument is pretty difficult to defend.Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com

FIA's proposal to do away with the points system for the WDC doesn't award consistency, and that's my main problem with it. There's no real gain by switching to this new award system either, I honestly think it's another FIA attmept to amp up the off-season by adding some hype and hopefully earn a few more viewers/$.- Trey

I think the FIA have introduced the winner takes all system because it will (maybe not in the first few races, but definitely later on in the season) keep the drivers racing until the end of the race and not until their last pitstop. It means that a driver contending the championship can't just be content with consistency (unless they're consistently first), you need to win the most races to win the championship, and from that perspective its a great idea... in theory, we'll have to wait and see how it turns out in reality.

Also, consistency is still awarded - the constructors (which is worth a LOT more money to the teams) is unaffected by the winner takes all system, its still decided on points alone.

So with a week left to go before the first race the FIA still hasn't figured out how they're going to score the races?1990 S50 goodness.Comment

IIRC, the FIA cant make rule changes this late in the game. They have to do it by NOV, and we are well past that. Look for the change in 2010...
