Look for the change in 2010...

That's what I've been hearing for the last week or so.

This new point scoring system takes many teams out of contention for the WDC, and really only leaves SF and McMerc as viable candidates. This is great news if you are fans of either team, but I subscribe to the point-of-view "if it isn't broken, why fix it?"

The idea is to stop racing for points and 'coasting' once a driver has the season wrapped up. The FIA is trying to get passing back into the game and wants the seasons to come down to the wire.

I would be willing to argue that the past 3 seasons have been full of great racing, close points races, and great finishes! WHY oh WHY would you want to change it now? Even the aero/KERS/slicks/etc was a poor change in my opinion. its a shame they have to change the sport to keep it 'interesting'

I like your avatar TDE30, hopefully Heidfeld will do better during qualifying this year. I don't see why race wins will change anything in terms of coasting. It seems like every few years they change the points structure but changing how the championship is won? Bullshit. I support the FOTA proposal which is to just make a win worth 1 or 2 more points.

You make it only worth wins, then if there are two races left and anyone in the field has more than two wins over the rest of the field regardless of where he is in the points he doesn't even have to show up to those races and he has won it? Give me the past two years of WDC decided by 1 point please. It came down to the last turn of the last lap of the last race, how much more exciting do you get then that?
