In the press conference today Stefano Deminicali said when asked if it was "Between a Finn and a Spaniard" for the seat as had been said a couple days ago, things had changed and they would announce it when they were ready. I wonder if by things have changed he means in terms of Renault, which could mean either they feel Alonso is a done deal now, or they feel Alonso is damaged goods due to the scandal and isn't going to pursue him.

Got it on the DVR...have yet to watch it (just got home from work). I will watch it after dinner. Newswire reported Vettel had the best lap time. Tomorrows' quali should be a good one.

damn. i was pulling for Rubins in Q3. Had he got pole [not too far fetched] he would of started 5th while Button has to start 12th. As it is now, Rubins will start 10th. Maybe he can cut into Buttons lead, but its not looking too good right now.

*Barichello had a gearbox failure this weekend and had to swap; he gets a 5 spot grid penalty per the 4-race events per gearbox rule. So he will be starting 10th tomorrow. Alonso, Glock, Heidfeld, Kubica & Kovalainen move up one spot on the grid as a result.

Watching qualifying I just kept thinking what a shitty track. If I wanted to watch cars on a crappy street circut I would watch Indy racing. Night race or not this track has no passing and does not showcase the capabilities of these cars or drivers.

Sucks about the red flag at the end, Vettel, Webber, and Rosberg need that lap bad.

                Bumpier than Sebring, I think . . . .

                What a crappy surface.

I noticed the bumpy behavior of the cars too. And to think the guys on Speed said some portions of the track had been repaved :!:

I'd hate to see how the Singaporians define "rough road".

It was mentioned that the track surface was cleaned last year as apposed to this year, not to mention the fact that there was construction work being performed right next door, bringing dust and dirt on the track.

really? you didn't think the qualy was interesting? Im now starting to pull for Rubens so it was all well till he had his moment with the wall. as for Nico and Sebastian getting back up there at the top... I thought it was a eventful qualy and cant wait to see the drama that unfolds tomorrow.

Good race, but caught the middle of it. Hamilton walked away from everyone taking 1st followed by Glock and Alonso. Vettel, Button, Barrichello, Kovalainen and Kubica round out the point spots in that order. Heidefeld DNF'd by what I heard was a gearbox issue.
