I bet BMW pulled Kubica in because of the recent engine failures, to save the engine for other races

EDIT: "Kubica made a good start but his race was compromised on the opening lap when he tangled with Webber and damaged the left endplate on his front wing. He got the black and orange flag to have that investigated, and retired on lap 15 with an oil leak."

Hamiton is a racer at heart, if he thinks he can pass someone thn he is going to push to pass them. Dosent matter what lap it is, or if he can win the championship. EVERY one of those guys out there is going to push hard till the finish line.... i dont know why you think he was being foolish.

FYI, he set the purple first sector on that lap, so he was on the move trying to get every little bit out of the car to try and get one more spot.
I have to agree with you. There is a difference between a good driver and a championship driver and it is effort, ego, and bravery. If you are going to be the fastest you have to test the limits and not be afraid to exceed them. If he is in the points lead then, its a different story. But right now they really have nothing to lose. If you want to a driver who drives safe, and settles for just finishing I think Ferrari might have one who just became available,, I think his name starts with Luca.

Thats the first thing I thought when Kubica came in, was they are saving their engine. The Mercs are really strong, not to mention reliable this year.

According to autosport, Kubica is on his 8th engine for the season now, so it would make sense.

Hamilton might not have made the smartest move, but it makes the series a little more exciting. And on the plus side, it looks like the race in Canada for 2010 is confirmed.

I was starting to think Red Bull should have pulled in Vettel as well, but they got lucky with Liuzzi and Hamilton and were able to salvage a point.

That's a shame. But I can't really blame them. Their hands are tied by the regs and far more engineering gains can be had in other racing series. I just read an interview with Toyota F1's engine manager in the latest issue of Race Engine Technology. He sounded a bit fed up with the whole regulation deal. I think they'll be gone before too long, too.

Qualifying rules are going to have to change..... trying to get a good flying lap with 23 other cars in a 15min span is going to be a real challenge,,,,, mainly because everyone waits for the last 5 min when there is rubber on the track to put in their golden lap.

Wonder if they will give points further down the line if they have so many cars, maybe 12 points for 1st, 10 for 2nd, 8 for 3rd and so on until 10th.
