right now my car is in "winter mode" with bent, primer color bottlecaps, 4x4 ride height, an i lip and 2 coats of wax with about 10 coats of mud on it, so it doesn't get much in the way of looks (even from me).

How many of the "jelly bean" cars will still be attractive in 20 years? I remember being in high school and thinking Mitsubishi eclipse's were really cool looking, but now they are ugly as sin like pretty much all jelly bean/bubble cars are.

People are always gawking at my car, but I think it's because of the color, nuclear lemon yellow, more so than it's an M3.

My little eta has a hell of a lot more torque than most of the 325i's here. It goes sideways quite well, trust me.

Yea funny thing about this Thread: I rarely got any compliments in any of my stock e30's. However my e46 e30(deceased) got at least 1 compliment a day, at the very least I got a thumbs up from other non-e30 BMW drivers. I parked my car in a residential street behind work and I always saw people from the apartments staring at it/talking about it (wonder what that thing has on it, lol). Whatever forget that piece of shit. I gotta say though the vert gets a lot of attention on a daily.

Had one today, on my way to physical therapy.

Got out in the parking lot and a woman is staring at my car for a while before she musters up the courage to ask "do you mind if I ask what's with your roof?"

I tell her my sunroof panel is being resealed and that i have a big gaping hole in my roof, which is stuffed with saran wrap, cardboard, paper bags, more saran wrap, and covered with a towel wedged in my doors.

It comes with owning an eta. I imagine it's the same kind of thing guys who own Boxters have to deal with when they show up at Porsche Club meetings.

Boxter guys show up at Porsche meetings?

I would think they would show at Karmann Ghia meeting and lord it over them...

As crazy as it sounds, all of the people in our porsche club love the 914. It didn't use to be like that though. But they like them now. Mmmm Karmann Ghias *drool*

I took my e23 for a test drive before i bought it, and the owner (who had stayed in the parking lot) told me after I got back that 4 people had stopped to look at my car. His had been sitting for 3 weeks and hadn't gotten that much interest.

Happens all the time to me, but then again it's partially because of my exhaust. I'm super arrogant when it comes to my car, it's a clean, fast, good looking car.

For example: I'm back at SMC getting an AA in Accounting, and I see a guy in my class leaving campus in a sick black e92 m3. There are a bunch of rich Persian kids that go to SMC.

Anyway, he is slammed on some sick black staggered wheels, and has a nice exhaust system. I catch up to him before we turn to get on to the 10 East and he looks over at my car. We both roll our windows down and compliment each other on our cars. The guy ends up being pretty cool and agreed to do a few runs on the freeway. :D

I was surprised how well my car kept up until about 90, then he started walking me hard in 4th. The next day he gave me props for my car in class, and I respectively did the same to him.

The only one I've had thus far was the first night I had my car.

Having had my engine oil light come on in the first hour and thinking "oh hell, what have I gotten myself into" (turns out it was fine, just low on oil) I was in a sad mood until we went to a gas station to fill up and some random guy in a Trans-Am says "Wow, that's a great looking Bimmer - they just don't make them like they used to."

I said thanks, got a big grin on my face, and realized I'd made a great decision with my car.
