judging from what I see on the pics it looks to me like it is the waterpump itself that failed and not the gasket. looks like the coolant is coming out where the bearing is from the small "leak-hole".-- see hoe the coolant has a stream coking from the center then down.

Judging by the fact that the coolant is running down the pump from the front tells me that its the pump front bearing seal itself, not the gasket. Front seals can wear sooner and leak if the belts are way too tight.

actually, could be the coolant hose leaking. this was addressed last week in another thread here.

                  Plastic water pump eh?

Why not do it yourself? It takes like an hour TOPS to do.
Get a new waterpump for 45 bucks, use permatex waterpump and gasket maker after you cleand the surface on the block, bolt up and let it cure for 24 hours (you dont have to but it will never leak if you let it cure) and you are set.
Its pretty darn obvious nothing about the pump was touched, look how dirty is it and the caked rim of dirt and oil on the pump at the bottom.

Even with a new pump (which this one wasnt) it can still leak if the gasket was compromised, when i was a n00b a few years back, it leaked because i didnt clean the surface 100%, and use the wrong permatex brand goop Since then i never had a pump leak since i learned how to install one correctly,

Plastic impeller is probably what he meant.

BTW, "Permatex" goop isn't necessary for a water pump replacement. Clean the mating surfaces well and use the paper gasket supplied with the new pump.

If you want to make life easier, use some spray tack to hold the gasket in place while you mount the new pump.

                      Because it's spelled "plaques".

He has plaques on his wall. Not placks.
