He told me it was an s50. That's all I have to go on, I was there all of about 20 minutes, saw it there thought I'd take some pics for others to enjoy.
Next time I won't waste my time sharing since all that happens is everyone looks for flaws, tears it apart, and bitches about how it could be sooooo much better.

Aren't the VANOS unit covers usually black on M cars?

They wre black on the post 95 engines with OBD2, they have a plastic valve cover; though earlier ones are stronger, the black plastic ones have a more desirable look and oil filler position.Originally posted by e30MattAren't the VANOS unit covers usually black on M cars?Comment

The valve cover is metal on both models. The plastic cover is just that... a cover.Originally posted by kylebes1They wre black on the post 95 engines with OBD2, they have a plastic valve cover; though earlier ones are stronger, the black plastic ones have a more desirable look and oil filler position.Originally posted by e30MattAren't the VANOS unit covers usually black on M cars?

Right... but the VANOS unit cover (the piece in front of the "BMW M Power" piece of plastic) was black on S50/2, or just the S52?Originally posted by brodeeThe valve cover is metal on both models. Not your post, just all the "that can't hook up" that charger sucks" , "whoever's car is faster"Originally posted by kylebes1If you were offended by me I retract; I was only pointing out that they must be test fitting it.
Also if they do put the engine where it goes, they should not have any clearnce problems, except maybe the s/c itself.
Who the fuck cares.. I wasn't looking for an argument, just thought it was cool that someone was doing something I don't see much of and thought I'd share in case someone else thought it was cool too.

Its really hard to tell the US s50 and M50 apart since the US motors are really M50B30s with cams. However that looks a LOT like mine except that I painted the cover black and got the headers instead of the iron manifolds.
Its gonna be powerful but like I said I would want to tear into that motor and super because both look used and something could be really bad in there.
I actaully would like the oil filler location of the S52 because the current spot is akward with my brace but to do that I would have to use the loom for the coils that comes out the side and its not as clean as the M50 setup that has the loom hidden under the plastic cover and fuel rail cover. Just leaves that side cleaner with less crap over there.Im now E30less.

Chill out buddy, nobody is ripping on you.... If I stumbled across it I would think it was cool too. But the fact is, Powerdyne blowers suck badly and that looks like a pretty rough motor. Just observations thats all...
S50 valve covers are not magnesium, they are just a cheap pot metal. S52 valve covers are not metal at all, they are a composite plastic.Originally posted by Simon SWhen a dream is a dream for too long - it becomes a fantasy..
