It was just a matter of time. Just can't beat FI.

still weighing 2800 lbs! if anybody read the article about BMW's obesity it's totally true. the e30 m3 weighed roughly 2200 the new m3 weighs about 4-something thousand!

America is getting to BMW. America is obsessed with giant powerhouses that don't handle for shit and weigh a shitload. the m3 obviosuly handles amazingly and is super fast, but think how much better it would handle and race if it was about 2k lighter?

              Or is that you're "special?"

You have to completely gut the E30 M3 and use everything carbon fiber to get it down to 2200 lbs. I believe the stock weight was about 2850 lbs.

                      E30 M3 weighs 2200 lbs? I thought it was 1300 lbs.

Unsure about this whole newfound twin-turbo gig BMW has going on, kind of takes their past success with NA motors and punches it in the face. On the flip-side, it will be entertaining to drive some of these new twin-turbo'd cars with software, etc.

Impossible. A 1500 lb car? The Elise comes in at like 1950. Explain how you're going to shave 500lbs of an Elise, please.

0 for 3 so far, want to try again?

Yeah but the NA M engines are about maxed out and that compromises reliability. Just look at the early S54s. AMG, Suby, Mitsubishi has come out with some FI powerhouses so if they want to keep up it's just natural that BMW went FI.

Corvallis, you are referring to the federalized E30 M3, the added weight is something like 3500 lbs. So, technically, the unfederalized E30 M3 weighed -800 lbs. Err, wait...
