allot cash to do the timing belt, maybe a clutch soon, a brake job, fluid change, and valve adjustment and you'll be set.

Better make sure you know the extent of the work needed, and if you want to have to deal with it.

I will, Just I really don't want this to slip by. I can hopefully look at it before the weekend and know more. I wish I had some money saved, I'm willing to sell the 84 eta and my escort to pay for this and make it a great car to have, because it seems thats all the possible ways I can get a large chunk of cash quick.

What kind of cash is a 84 325e worth?

            220,000

Don't rush, it's not worth making a mistake, ask Josh aka Eurspeed 88 about his bent car.

Another will come along and California is right next door.

I'm not gonna rush it, but I'd hate to lose her. I did some work on my 84 eta and this i won't take nearly as much work to get in pristine condition. I just hope this works out in my favor.

Best advice on here, the biggest mistake I have ever made was rusing a car purchase. (im only 17, i still have time to make some better mistakes)

I rushed it with my eta, but I can get the money back and then some. But thanks for the tip, I just think I may have a shot at this car. I'm only 17 aswell, but I wont get into my mistakes.

An automatic 325e with 220,000 and needs a paint job isn't worth any more than $1,000-1,250.

                        Ouch.

I was considering detailing it, fine tuning, and really make her worth the best she could be. Thanks for the reality check, as is a measly 1000ish, damn.

He's right, the guy I bought my car from screwed me, because he didn't tell me the extent of the damage to the car, and it wasn't immediatley visable.

honestly if you don't spend a good hour checking everything out on these cars you will regret it. check every panel for matching VINs, check the undercarriage out with a flashlight, ask if they have done the front wheel bearings, driveshaft, clutch, check for cracked dashboards, cracked trim panels on the A/C and Radio plate, check out the suspension, oil leaks (oil pan gasket especially), compression and leakdown, etc. everything on these cars is part of a unibody frame, so it doesn't take much to twist them. also, check up front to see if the unibody is straight under the condenser fan. there is a lot of shit that people will just not do with these cars, and they end up selling them because they end up neglecting repairs and get sick of owning them. understand that while the 325i might be pretty easy to come by, a good condition 5 speed with proper maintenance 325is or 318is is not. if the seller appears to just want to get rid of it, walk away. if they give the impression that they actually care about who takes it away, then that is a different story. to tell you the truth, i wouldn't buy an e30 from anyone but a diehard enthusiast or a grandma who drove it to and from the store. good luck.
I retired my E30 for now...

If you pay $2700 for an E30 with 180K miles and a salvaged title, I'm going to label you

I don't care how good it looks. That salvage title is stigma against market value. I wouldn't give more than $1800 for it. I say keep looking.
