Im new to the car community but I've found that I really like old bmws but don't know enough to identify stuff. These are some listings I've found and I was wondering if these are good and how much work they would need to be pretty good

One is a 4-cylinder E30. The other is a 4-cylinder M10 E21.
You should first check if a car has a perfect body with no rust. That's the main priority.

As stated above, I would definitely prioritize the condition of the body shell over everything else. After all, the other stuff bolts on. Having had both an m42 and an m10, I will say that the m42 is definitely a more engaging engine to drive - mostly as the m10 was designed for a lighter car.IMG_0145 by Jonathan Martin, on Flickr

At this point in the E21/E30 lifespan, teamed with your newness, the condition of the body should be your top priority. Rust is a big no-no to tackle. Like KI4 said above, everything else bolts on.My previous build (currently E30-less)
