    Kailine rims choice to make

    Hi

As in another topic (2012) all my previous messages are gone, I will start here with a new topic.
Currently I have this car in my possession for about 17 years.
During these years it underwent almost a complete restoration which I will update here bit by bit.

This sedan started life in 1988 and has a body kit of a German tuner (back in the days from the eighties) called Kailine.
On this car the kit includes:
    - Bilstein suspension
    - Kailine steering wheel
    - Kailine wheels
    - Kailine front bumper, side skirts, rear bumper and bootlid spoiler.

Other Kailine options possible back in the day were other grilles and even a turbo kit, but this car didn't came along with it. Also E34 and E32 had similar kits.

Neat! Can't say i've seen a Kailine kit before. Gives me E36 vibes a bit.

Very nice. I haven't seen this kit before.

underbody redone, complete suspension overhaul incl all bushings, subframes, axle shafts, driveshaft, new 3.91 OS Giken Superlock LSD.
I must say, the car is a joy to drive. The sound of the inlet combined with the exhaust note gives goosebumps, car is always asking for more!

Some years ago after receiving new paint and some grille work. However, as the car is used for roadtrips, mountain driving and an occasional Nurburging Nordschleife lap, it's a challenge to keep the car in this state. The fact that I enjoy driving above cleaning also doesn't help

I have this same problem, I think my jeep gets one wash a year even though it sits outside all the time. 😅

Is that trunk duckbill / lip spoiler part of the Kailine kit as well?

Awesome car, I feel like I have never heard of Kailine before. I like the rear and skirts, not 100% about the front bumper. Cool that you found such a nice example to start with, and have kept it nice through all these years.

Those are some quite healthy numbers. Whats the details on the build? Guessing its at least 2.8L if not a 3.1, at least 10:1 CR and some wild cam profile.

                            Lets hear it! (dyno video?)

I will come later with specs and build pics.
After break-in it was yesterday dyno time.
Lots of torque as foreseen, however top end flattens a bit faster than thought, apparently due to airflow.
Could be the size of ITB's which is on the small side, or the valves, or the head.. As it is a streetcar, I am not planning to change the setup as I don't want to lose torque in the quest for finding more hp in the upper range.
Anyhow the car is a beast
Pushed it once towards 7800 rpm, however limiter is set at a save 7000 rpm.
