1. I've got way less into this car than your average dumbass driving his 93 Civic or Grand Am.
2. I enjoyed the work and did it all myself.
3. I look damn good driving it.
4.. I got parts through Bimmerparts.com cheaper than for a camaro at Autozone.
5. My car looks better than theirs.
6. I look damn good driving it.
7. My car gets 36 mpg highway and I have gotten 28.8 mpg in PURE CITY driving.
8. I look damn good driving it.
if you didnt get it from my last post, I was congratulating you on the nice car you have, not insulting you for spending so much money.
1. bullshit, 30+mpg for the m42 guys, even more the for the m10 fellas
2. not really. E30 parts in general aren't any more expensive than any other cars.
3. see #2
4. thats why you work on your own shit.
its not difficult or expensive to make an e30 a practical (ie inexpensive) car. If you buy a negleted POS for $600 like most people do, yeah its gonna cost some money. but if you buy a well cared for car and stay on top of maintenance, they are fine, and inexpensive, e30 m3 not included
Hey I didn't say that e30s get bad gas mileage, I'm just saying that there are more efficient cars.
From what I have seen, E30 parts are more expensive than parts for a Chevy Cavalier. Not to mention the abundance of parts for domestic shitters.
Sure, we can get cheap parts from BMA and the like, but I'm going to make a bold assumption and say that there is a domestic parts store counterpart for the domestic car lovers.
All I'm saying is that if we were to use our money efficiently in pursuit of a DD, E30 shouldn't make it to the top of the list.
But don't we all buy it because we like the car and we don't mind spending money on it (because we enjoy it)?
My point here is that, although some people accuse others of their wastefull use of money, really, who are we to talk? Has anyone here actually modded their car and come up with a profit? (well maybe there are a couple, but im sure that that handful is not a majority).
Restoring a bmw makes my ticker tick. You can't put a price on that... fuck money you spend it anyways.
Closeups on the paintjob? I want to do my own paint too. Looks great! Can't say I like the wheels that much, but great job. Smoked taillights are a must...!
ya that would be great if we can get closeups, im planning a spray on my 318 myself.
.....i know you guys arent gonna agree with my but: you should have kept the chrome trim!!! the '85's look wicked cool and unique with the chrome trim.
sick car though, i love the m10, so easy to do maintnece on.
that car really transformed! how much rust was there to fix, just the rear quarter panel?
and who cares if it's a 318i, it's still an E30. I'm sure people don't understand why I've put so much money into a 4 door automatic ix, but who gives a fuck, I didn't buy my car to make any of you guys happy. :P
royalflush313, I agreed with your post, I was responding to Rob. All in good fun. I really couldn't have said it better myself- "I didn't mod my car to make you guys happy". It was so much fun and I learned alot. Nando- yeah I had to cut out a 1.5 ft by 8" chunk out of the fender and about 2 ft by 8" chunk out of the inner wheel well from inside the trunk. There were maybe three other places I had to cut out small pieces. I have pictures of the entire process, so I will post those later. Thank God for the MIG welder and air powered sawzall!
Next up: I have 3 Jeep CJ7's that I am going to make one bad ass Jeep out of, already finished with the frame and reverse shackle 4" lift, and have a built 360 on it. Shopping for a good original tub if anyone knows of one.
With how hard it is to find the MTech II kit, I think I will just buy a set of late model bumpers to put on my Cabrio- so if anyone is selling let me know. It will be my fiancee's sunday car anyways.
how did you work those bumpers? Looks to me like the surrounds actually flow into the bumper, it looks very nice. Do you have any pictures up close of the front and rear bumpers? Good alternative to getting the plastic or euro, especially since you can use the es spoiler.
Did you fix those other spots two? small hole in driver's front strut tower, Sheet metal behind driver's headlight, and battery tray under the hood? I deff. want to see some close up pics.
You should of seen that car when I got it, My friend's dad actualy recomended me not buying it. Interior was full of garbage, seats ripped to shreads, only thing it had in it's favor was it ran.
Like you said EtaSport, I wanted to keep the ES airdam, so I modified the diving boards into a flowing one piece after pushing them in. Very hard to do! I'll post pics as soon as Im able. Thanks for all the compliments.
