Back to 'stock', with some new pics...
I pulled off the BBS valence and put it aside until I can complete the kit.
I got a brand new euro-valence, compliments of Blunt, and completed it with the early-model OEM Euro Fog-deletes. Then I threw on my BBS RA's that I have had laying around until my new wheels are done...

is the interior all buttoned up?
The interior is pretty much in a 'finished' state. I want to get a better match with the front seat back-panels and the vinyl that is on the bolsters (the panels are to shiny I think) and I'm concidering rear head-rests as well...

Damnit!
Apparently, today was my day to suffer the wrath of the mechanical gods...
Today at work I managed to assist in the destruction of a $480k Helicopter transmission. On take-off one of the internal bearings decided to basically explode, causing us to quickly turn around and give us need for a drink, or seven...
Then on the drive home, Henna starts making this horrible rattle. I limped her back to my garage. She's idling for crap, and there is a constant steady rattle from the top of the engine. I'm pretty sure I lost a rocker. I'm in no mood to tear into it tonight, I'll probably pull the valve cover tomorrow. I hope its just an adjuster.
But, to put the cart before the horse, if it turns out to be more than just a simple adjuster, I might be semi-prematurely going forth with my stroker project...

Well, I finally got around to investigating the issues. One eccentric (#5 exhaust) worked its way loose. Easy fix.
But then I found the real reason for the shitty idle and misfire. The #4 Intake manifold gasket was split and hanging out. Damnit.
Since I'm going to have to pull the top of the engine apart anyway, I figure I might as well push forward on the stroker project. Step one, pull the 323i head out of storage...
Its an early (-200 casting) m20b23 head. It has one burnt valve so its going to the machine-shop on monday to get pressure tested. If it passes that, from there its gonna get a refresh. Nothing crazy, but I'm planning on going to an m20b25 cam for just a little more durration.Last edited by RainierHooker; 03-13-2010, 06:51 PM.
