I say leave it the way it is. M3 springs with maybe a coil taken out of the front. Love this 318i. Great job with the MTech 1.

I think a built m42 swap would be awesome, and keep the badging...

With such beautiful bodywork, I'm thinking 2.2/2.3 M10 at the most, maybe a simple 2.0 with an early head. Keep the original motor in this one; mostly original, mint early 318's are very hard to find stateside.

thanks everyone for your compliments. reguardless of how much i favor the OEM details, tasteful mods are allowed in my opinion. A drop will happen too, however it will be very small, the wheels will help with the fender gap when i eventually get new ones. bilstein HDs and cut 325i springs is the plan. i will take off the US valence reguardless of how it came from factory, it looks awful underneath it since its all pitted from 25 years of driving. as far as motor swaps, you may see progress within the next year. 333i is the new plan.

I could only imagine how hot it would look with the full kit. Looks great. Keep it up.

Wheels will help with fender gap? are you going to use oversize tires?

Let me get this straight. All of this effort time money on little details and your plan is cut springs?

^ yeah. At least track down some H&R sports or H&R OE. ( 1 inch drop or so)

Or M3 springs at the very least

Don't use cut 325i springs. The cut will take care of the ride height but will also make springs that are already stiff for your car even more stiff. You'll be bouncing all over the place. I agree with the others and vote that you get proper springs otherwise just cut the stock springs you have on now. Cut a coil or 2 off the front and take the pads out of the rear.
