So I changed the starter today, car still does not turn over. I tried to jump the terminal on the starter and it spins but does not engage. Is there a alarm I need to re-set or something? The car will pop start. Any help will be appreciated. I have searched but these forums are not filled with as much as info vwvortex which was very helpful site I used for my vw's. My bentley manual should be shipped today or so but will not get until after the weekend I suppose. Is there another sight I should be going on and searching?

Yes. it will run and drive fine. Is there some type of system reset i have to do after hooking up battery? Some vw's you have to have the seatbelt plugged in, tried that did not do nothing. Newer ones have to have clutch in, did not work. I am at a stand still.
I found scan tools on ebay for $150, is it worth the investment? I doubt it will help me out in this case.Last edited by Mylch; 11-17-2010, 01:10 PM.Comment

I check for power at starter. Its there. I checked the power at the ignition switch. Its there.
IIRC the P.O said something about hitting the check button in front of the sunroof when you start the car or something. Tried that, still no go.Comment

What was the problem. Judging by the way your jetta looked. This is going to be nice. You can contact Levent (ZMbluedevil) He'll definitely be able to help with the bumper trunk and hood.sigpicComment

Well I had the blk/ylw wire on the "single" connector not the side with 3. The P.O had already removed the wires so I did not know which one it went on. Dumb mistake on my part for not switching it sooner.Comment

^^^ Yep. Things are pretty straight forward on the starters. There are no seat belt check stuff like the VW A2's. The check panel just checks yours brake lights when you turn it on. The flashing 'check' goes away when you step on your brakes.. Unless you have a bulb out.
That's not a check engine light per se. It's just to get your attention to look at the check panel on the roof.Comment

I gotta ask you dillsnick, what are the spec's on you wheels/tires in your sig?
I took the stupid jetta rear bumper off today. Hoping to grab the rear diving board set up this week end. I also test fit the wheels, Offsets seem great but bigger tires are a must.

225-50-15 for the rears and if feel the need to stagger go 205-55-15 front. But I suggest going 225 all the way around.
This was the 500 buck 325e in Wallingford correct?
Disconnect the battery for a half hour, resets the OBC alarm.Comment

No the car was not for sale. Some kid down the street from me had it sitting there for some time. I got it for $550. He started off at $1700Comment
