Update:
Its now running a M52B28 OBDI, G240 and 4.10S. Just need to tidy it up.
Original Post:
This was supposed to be a "non-running" 1991 318i sedan on Craigslist. I showed up planning to tow it, but after some duct tape on the intake boot and tightening up the oil pan (seriously), ended up driving it home.
1991 318i diamond schwarz 5 speed.
After a new intake boot and some fluids, she's making it around just fine. I'm not terribly excited about an M42 car.
The start of bringing her back to life:
Non-sport interior is in decent shape. Few dash cracks.
"S4,10 8982" => Factory optional 4.10 LSD.
Yay, front driver wheel bearing died.
Hood had a bad respray.

Cheap car gets chalkboard hood. Its been a joke about engineering classes and needing to write things down. Should be fun.
Bypassed the mess under intake and installed a new, but she still doesn't idle smooth.
Got bored and decided to do:
-All new vacuum lines
-Mess under the intake
-New Valve cover gasket set
-New Timing chain tensioner
-Black Wrinkle paint for the intake and valve cover
Whats going on in here? :D
Lobe surfaces look good for 290,000 miles.
Cam sproket teeth do not look so good. (Very sharp)
I found ~20 oz of water in the spark plug recesses. Probably the cause of the rough idle. :loco:
This M42 has surprised. It pulls hard for its age. I was planning to go straight for an M50, but I'm happy in the pants right now. The PO just put new shocks on so, I can't bring myself to put it on coils either.
I'm just happy to be back in an e30... well, its in pieces again, but Yay.
