Alpine CDA 9855 in my 325iX

So, its been a super long time since amber has been an option on Alpine decks. They finally have amber, and a few other shades of colors as an option now (512 now to be exact).

I'm just learning the glide touch and I'm getting it under control. I'm pretty sure the buttons that illuminate green can be changed to another color as well, at least thats what I thought.

Variable Button Color: The illumination of the 4 square buttons can be adjusted to any of 512 colors. The following color presets are stored in memory: Blue, Green, Amber, and Red. In addition, you can store custom colors under the 6 User's preset. The custom color can be selected by turning the rotary encoder and cycling though all 512 colors. In addition, you can choose green or amber as the color of the remaining buttons.
According to Crutchfield, they can be. But I haven't figured it out yet.

The display is only black and white. I didn't like it at first, but its grown on me. It's supposed to be better onj your eyes.

If you can make the entire face amber, that is one of my next purchases... looks perfect. Well, maybe a few shades darker.

one of the Nakamichi (sp?) decks is the only one i've seen that matches pretty much spot on with the factory illumination. I'd really like to find a way to mount the "bussiness" cd player out of an e46 in the e30 - would look sooooo good.

Is the display really that tiny?

Alpine CDA-7894. I have one, it's the EXACT same amber, with no other colours.

The display is that tiny because of how I have it setup. The less display, the more power it has. As of right now, I'm using it's internal amp. Down the road I'm going to buy a good 4 channel amp to power my speakers.

Here's one of the promo images of what the display looks like in full mode:

Hmm, it looks pretty cool. But does the screen draw that much power that it would make a difference in the internal amps output?

that's pretty far fetched. I somehow doubt the display and the amp are on the same circuit..

Yeah, it actually does. I would assume it does in all head units. In the documentation for the head unit, it says blackout mode (no display after like 5 seconds of inactivity) is best for sound quailty and performance.

That display isn't that small, Alpine fits a lot on that screen, I support Alpine all he way....not because I'm drunk.

No, the display isn't small, but look at the pictures he originally posted. He has that thing down reading 1 line of text.
