What i've been doing all day

Well at first the clutch didnt engage right away after a shift then it slipped during normal (not even fast) driving. I today ive been taking it apart and its taken me quite a while. I didnt have air tools till the very end and all the nuts are lock nuts. When i finally got it out i almost started to cry because i didnt see anything wrong with the clutch components. But i think the pressure plate is fucked cause it looks 50 years old and one of the spring depressor things doesnt go back up all the way. what do u think about the condition of each of the items? with the flywheel i can feel that it is worn down where the disk touches it. Should i replace it?

    here is a bonus pic

If one of the springs on the centerforce style clutch is not snapping back home, the pressure plate will probably require replacement; however, it should clamp down with the additional centrifical force in the higher rpm band.

It really isn't a good picture to see, but the clutch disk looks pretty worn.

The flywheel may be able to be resurfaced, but that is the cheap way out of it. Replacement of all components would be better if you plan on going on the track.

The third picture is so dark, I can't even tell what I am looking at.

The actual pressure plate doesn't look that bad, but it is rare to be able to distinguish a good one from a bad one without installing it.
Don't forget the good things Hitler did.

im going to take all the parts (i guess the flywheel too) to the auto parts store today to see what they say and if they can figure out what I can replace them with. I forgot to add i almost blew up the car when there was a spark from the bell housing hitting the positive battery terminal near the disconnected dripping fuel line

Wow. A professional should be working on that vehicle. You sound like a HACK.

thanks, i wasnt expecting a spark and no one has any idea of what was in there. Turns out it was a ford clutch in between the small block chevy and zf gearbox. Because of the Pantera im guessing

Does anyone know where i can get custom flywheel made? So far its been impossible to find a chevy flywheel that has the holes for a ford clutch

Well its all back together now, it took be about a day to do it all, but many more trying to find the right parts and shit. The friction surface on the old flywheel was fried after the machining so i had to buy a $550 aluminum flywheel for a chevy since thats what the engine is. however it uses a special ford long slyle clutch since the engine is from the pantera. I had to spend 200 to have the 300 pressure plate custom drilled to fit on the chevy flywheel. quite a mess.

I have pulled it forward and backed it up in the garage but my mom has a call into the insurance agent to get insurance on it. Then I will take it for a very thorough test drive

Will YOU take it for a long test drive or will your DAD? :) If I had a car like this, I'd take it long before my son did ;)

Nice car. Keep us updated (even the skeptics.) :)
