Funny but one should be a Henna to add to enjoy the feisty spirit.

            Beautiful, well done!

What sort of power output are you expecting from the S14 in this state?

Curious about this as well... an S14 build would be friggin awesome just wish the cost of participation wouldn't be so high. One day...

Thanks guys, it feels great to be able to drive the car again. It wasn't supposed to take this long but work/kids limited the time I was able to spend on it. I did all of the work except for the head and machine work on the block.

The engine was modded before with 284/276 cams, Evo Throttles, Alpha N, CF airbox, Evo 2 headers on an otherwise stock engine with stock exhaust and made 194rwhp, (209rwhp on another dyno). During the rebuild, the head was ported and both the head/block were decked slightly. I used overbore lightweight JE pistons (stock compression) with thermal/friction coatings, Supertech valve springs and nitrided exhaust valves, slotted cam gears, polished crank, evo flywheel, Embee ceramic coated headers, undriven 140A rebuilt alternator, Maxx Alpha N piggyback with WB closed loop control. With the mandrel bent 3" stainless exhaust, there's definitely more power but it's hard to quantify since I haven't driven the car in so long and it's currently on stock engine management for smog/break in. It smogged:

                      25mph 15mph
                      HC 9 6
                      CO 0 0
                      NOx 200s 200s (Don't remember exact numbers)

I figured if I made about 200rwhp (240HP) before on a 145K mile S14, then after the build I hope to be making at least 215rwhp or 260HP (assuming 17% drivetrain loss). The engine revs like crazy with the lightweight parts. Can't wait to get it fully broken in so I can stretch it's legs. It was a full rebuild but it was also a budget rebuild. I opted not to go the 2.5 route given how expensive the evo crank is now. It wasn't a performance rebuild per se. It's a slippery slope with the S14...an expensive one at that.

Total cost for engine rebuild is just over 4K with me doing mostly all of the work.

That's pretty decent power! I'm not surprised that these can keep up with the big boys on the track...

4k for all of that doesn't actually seem that bad... I spent nearly 5k rebuilding my m50 and that was on somewhat of a budget as well. My buddy has an e30 m3 and I gotta say that I really enjoy driving that, and sometimes I even prefer it over my S52. These motors are definitely meant to be driven and driven hard at the track.. an S52 definitely offers the best of both worlds.

                          Good stuff man
