What bottom end are you using? Super eta? Try and see if a chip and FPR will make a difference

a FPR isn't going to help his fuel curve, it already goes rich at WOT and changing the base pressure is going to make that worse. A chip is unlikely to help either, it needs to be specific to his engine not generic.

needs a full tune, still putting down decent #s though. get it tuned! :)

Correct. If he swaps his injectors to 19# we will have a base tune for this car. A local here has the same cam and headers, but 19lb injectors on a b25. Should be close enough for Alex to fine tune it himself with his emulator.

I'm getting ready to do this in a couple weeks. I have all the parts already is there anything I should know before hand tips? Did your car have any trouble cranking up the first time after the swap was done?

Yeah, it still needs to be tuned :) Thank you!

It had trouble because I was dumb and switched two of the plugs around, but once they were plugged into the right connector it started up just fine. It's exactly like changing a head gasket, only you are replacing the electronics as well. It's all pretty straight forward. Good luck!

Thats rather disappointing. I was hoping a properly tuned seta/i m20 would do better than that :weak:

so, was it worth it? How much did it end up costing you all together? Would you have rather saved the money and bought a 3.1L stroker kit and fully build it?

Sorry for all the questions! :)

Hell yes it was worth it! I believe I spent close to $1k, but keep in mind I also did A TON of maintenance and unnecessary stuff. I would've liked a 3.1L but it wasn't in the cards. What I would rather have done is what I'm about to start on this week. I'm building a 2.8L bottom end and then boost. Should scoot pretty good!

I still think 170-175 is still very possible. Considering I've seen 3.0 m20 only pull 192hp.. its not all that bad considering how much was put into the motor compared to a 3.0 build. This was our Lemons motor. So little money was put into it.

Just a little bit more on the car... We ran the 2.3 euro flywheel when we first dyno'd the engine & used a stock I cam, Ebay chip to rev to 6500, and long tube headers. We were surprised that it kept making power to redline. At first we told the tech to rev to 6k. As we are used to seeing and dealing with SpecE30 cars where the hp and tq fall flat on its face after 5k. Like the OP. So when we saw the graph, we were like "keep going"... We later installed an m30 AFM , 19 lbs injectors, and modified the Fuel pressure regulator to get more pressure because the ebay chip was making us run lean. Then the motor blew at an event and cooked the bearings (hose burst). I think if the motor didnt blow, we would have found a way to run an m50 throttle body and graph a m20 TPS to it & used a 10 lb flywheel then dyno it again.

The stock M20b25 makes 168/165tq at the crank. There is usually around +/- 10% loss of power.

I KNOW there are ways to squeeze more power out of this motor. I have an M30 AFM lying in my garage that I suppose I could put on and see how that feels. I also have a spare M50 and M20 TB that I could play with too. But the reason I posted this graph was just to prove that even an UN-TUNED 2.7 stroker with a cam makes as much (if not more) than a stock M20B25. My car isn't a dyno queen so I'm not going to spend a ton of money on dyno time to try to make that extra 0.1hp.
