Yeah I'm definitely gonna keep the original motor. I want to go with a nice beefy na build on it, i don't want too much power cause it doesn't really need it. this car can be fun with 100 hp. It is pre smog so I can pretty much do whateverComment

02's are becoming rare. Let alone 2002. Let alone 2002tii's. What kind of question is that? There are a lot of less rare car to throw that random six pot turbo in to. This car , brought in to original condition is worth $$.
If had an original Tii (sigh...) I'd set my goal to restoring it without any short cuts , no other alternative. And mayde tickle the engine to give just a bit more. I have one of those engines , and managed to get total ~2kg off the flywheel/clutch assembly. The flywheel is steel so it's safe to have it lightened, plus I replaced the original seriously heavy pressure plate with a newer type (meant for an M20 but bolts right on, both old M10 and M20s have 228mm clutch).
Looks like there's some work to do with the body? Rust here and there, from the pics it looks like the side skirts need some welding?Last edited by petrolhead; 12-26-2011, 01:04 PM.Comment

For example , A BMW 1502 is much more easy to find than an original 2002. Let alone a Ti or Tii.

Spray it in the original Golf and you won't be dissapointed. Looks like a nice find, a lot of elbow grease and you'v got yourself a nice little 02.
Nno..
