There is no insurance. I let my U.S. in Mexico insurance lapse a few weeks before this happened because I plan on taking the car back to L.A. I WAS going June 15th (5 days after the accident) and needed to pay for a year on about the 5th SO...... No insurance. I sued the kid that caused this and won. Now I am waiting for the court to decide how much he needs to pay.

For the record, had I gotten the parts here it would have cost about 4k. I spent 1k. I am out of pocket the 3k this has cost so far.

Thanks. Actually they are both painted surfboards & oddly the valance is actually 2 years older, from an 88. I got it, the new bumper, bumper surrounds & fogs from Bimmerfanatik who is a great guy to buy from (free plug for Scott) lol

Thanks Stefan :) It was my pleasure - it's so cool to see your car complete, knowing I took those front end parts off myself, brought them to UPS, and they sent them there. Just nice to see a parts car go to good use - the best use, in this case :)

One of my best customers, I swear ;) You're worth more than any ad campaign I could muster!

Seriously, that bumper had a good sized dent. They worked wonders. That valance had some good kinks in it too. Amazing how it all came together!

looks good, everything seems to match, and line up

still have no idea why you didn't get plastic bumpers though

Thanks guys I am so happy to have her back, it's amazing the importance a "car" can have. I feel silly admitting how attached to her I am. I felt like I was in jail the whole time she was impounded.

My wife thinks I am crazy. The dealer had her for a few days and some lot boy stole the few month old oem roundel, the dealer gave me a new one but I likened the theft to robbing a corpse and my Wife acted like I was INSANE!

Sorry honey I think taking parts off a very damaged car is akin to blasphemy. maybe it is a California car culture thing?

I like the surfboards because I really feel had it had plastic bumpers it would have been totaled. I got away without replacing anything in the center of the car (radiator, consensor etc)

I think painting them is a perfect solution they look smaller and it makes the car look more contemporary imho.

In reality the car probably would have been totalled even with the diving boards... and I don't think they offer any more protection than the plastc bumpers.

The car is looking nice though, I am glad you have it back and you are happy with it.
