Some more updates..
Primer done for the "bolt-ons".

The body all primed and waiting for a slot at the paint booth.

Notice that 67 Mustang Fastback upsidedown behind my car? :D

Speaking of other cars next to mine, another fellow E30 M3 brother is also getting its "skin" redone. :)

Next up is the paint booth for base and clear coats. :)Comment

Dude.. dude. You're on hell of a perfectionist, I thought everything looked super fine with this car, I mean, 22'000 miles. And there you go stripping the interior and painting the body. I'd rather have spent the cash elsewhere but meh, at least you're taking fantastic care of it. Beautiful.1984 bronzit 323i // Euro & M-tech 1.

Updates on the M3. We continue the work on addressing and restoring the body of the car.
Despite the car looking very nice overall from afar, some parts of the paintwork are in perfect shape, but when you get up close and personal to the body, sadly some areas have been burned and faded (mostly on the rear fender sections). It's unfortunate as this was most likely due to aggressive buffing when waxing the car, caused by the constant use of an electric buffer/polisher being applied too aggressively on the body of the car. I have a feeling that the car was taken cared of a little too "enthusiastically" by the previous owners. haha Sadly this "burned" paint damage was too severe and couldn't be repaired properly anymore unless we did a proper respray of the car's body.
That being said, we figured we might as well hit two birds with one stone and have a wash over done on the car. First objective would be to address the burned paint areas and second would be to clean up the applied Rust Bullet as well as take care of other rust spots on the car that we may have missed.
Dropped off the car at Alex Restoration for paint work. They're in our opinion the best paint and body shop in town. Owner Alex Isip's attention to detail, craftsmanship, expertise and service is really top notch.
Arrival at the Alex Restoration.

Despite the fact that the car's full of faded/burned spots, it still looks good from afar! Thanks to a good Sonax wax treatment that was done on the car before being dropped off at Alex's.

The deconstruction at the paint shop has begun!
Removed all the major panels for prep work. The body's also already sanded down and prepped for priming. Overall the body looks very good, no major issues, no signs of any accidents and straight as an arrow. :)

More to come soon! :)

Nice car. Congrats on the purchase.
Makes me wonder though if you would not be better off, at least financially, having started with a "regular" driver M3.
After all the work you are, and plan on, doing the extra value or desirability of it being a low mileage 22k car is gone forever.
Either way props. Looks like its in good hands. :D
Although I'm not sold on the rustproofing methods it looks like the paintwork will be top notch.
Little surprised though since they did a thorough teardown that they left the door strikers and hood latches intact.Comment

I honestly was in search of getting a "regular" driver M3 but being we're in the Philippines, such a car would be impossible to find. E30 M3s are fairly rare in this part of the world. I also felt bad about destroying the fact that the car was an original untouched 22k mile car but the paintwork was really just too far past its prime. I wasn't able to take close up pictures of the bad paintwork and the loads of wax we put on the car hid most of the imperfections in the pictures, but trust me when I say, it's not that good anymore when you get up-close and personal to the car. Hence the final decision to just get the car repainted.Nice car. Congrats on the purchase.

The rust proofing with the Rust bullet was a temporary solution to just stop the rust in it's tracks while we were waiting to bring the car to the body shop. I didn't post about the timeline but there was actually some time that had passed before the car was sent to the paint shop. Since we get a lot of rain in our part of the world, we wanted to make sure the rust doesn't get any worst. The paint shop redid everything, removed the Rust Bullet and fixed the rust areas properly. :)Comment
