It sounds like the engine is firing off of the cold start injector only. That will dump enough fuel to fire the engine, but not keep it going.

Ignition is fine as it fired. Next is to check fuel and CPS/TDC Sensor.

If the car has been sitting for a long time, the injectors can become clogged. They are unique to ETA motors and you would need to source some from another ETA M20B27 (Not the Super ETA as those are different (ie high impedance vs low impedance)

Odds are the CPS / TDC sensors are fine (located on the bellhousing of the transmission btw) as the engine fired, however they may be another place to look.

As the cold start injector is working (blue guy above the center of the valve cover) you have fuel pressure, so start checking what I said above.

Nice buy for 500 bucks. I wish E30 Chassis up here would show up for that. On the hunt for another racecar candidate.

        Good luck

Any 021 or 027 ECU will run that motor, the 528e would have come with either one depending on year.

They are the same except the 027 has a removable chip while the 021 does not.

Sitting near the ECU should be another box, usually green however rebuilt ones can be blue. This is the idle computer (Motronic 1.0 used a separate computer to run the idle control valve) Make sure you have one in there, that could be another culprit.

              Looks like this:

I was just through your hood last week going to the junkyard in moss landing.

Mines zinno too but a convertible.

We could have been e30 nerds for a minute.

duh nevermind i was driving my rv. But I was getting e30 parts. Next trip through there I will drive my e30.

ya well you can check online

The one i got the hooood and the fender from is a zinno convertible. it was perfect but those parts are gone now.

The headlights are already gone. Im not sure what youre looking for. its an auto also.

i think they have 1 or two other ones there.

I went to a few pick and pulls on the trip, and there was definitely a nice black one in santa rosa. It had a nice tan interior.

actually you want to knoow whats weird about that car?

It has a cloth back seat. tan cloth

unlike every other convertible ive ever seen.

theres only 1 front seat, its leather.
