I've owned a lot of BMWs, but the E36 M3 is the best car out of the BMWs I'd owned...
Prior BMWs:
2000 Z3 2.5
2001 330i Sedan
2002 BMW 530i
2003 BMW Z4 3.0
2005 BMW 545i 6M
2005 Toyota Corolla CE
2003 Jaguar X-Type 2.5
I go to school in the richest city in the south, and I still see more E36's than E46's. Oh well.
Those people wouldn't be able to pay a month's rent on an apartment in Laguna. Not shitting. Real estate is awful. Laguna Beach has THE richest people around here. Not to make it look good...it sucks. Half are people who moved here at the right time...like 20 years ago like my family...and the rest are people who moved here recently and have so much damn money they just buy e46 m3's like civics. Like I said...just come out here and you will realize. Sunday in the summer on PCH....ridiculous.
Why would someone worried about monthly loan payments and making trade in's for $15K used cars be concerned with driving rare status symbols?
Sounds like you need to get your priorities straight.
You actually think the E36 ride is stiffer? I think the E46 is stiffer but the chassis feels heavier. The plus is stiffness, the E46 seems as much stiffer than the E36 as the E36 is over the E30.
Being said, I would definately prefer the E36 M over a Z4.
