In need of some assistance (r3ved content)

So it snowed over night last night. My car was in the garage so i wouldnt have to deal with getting snow off of it in the morning. My car is pretty low, but i did not expect what happened next to happen, i made it about 8 miles before the car shut down, i opened the hood and saw this...

my car was driving over snow in the center of the lane but i had no idea it was packing it all in the engine bay. car is not getting spark, even after removing all the snow. is it safe to say the CPS is shot?

    here is the car

Because this is the Member's ride section, I can't do anything but look at your car and compliment how much I like the spark plug wire holder since I seem cracked very often.

I've almost had that happen myself! Car still ran but everything from the motor mounts down was covered in snow/ice. Try to clean as much out of there as you can, if it freezes you'll have a huge mess.
      Good luck with the engine.

yes - and check to see that you didn't knock the coil wire out of the cap when you knocked out all that snow and ice. if you're not getting spark.

checked the wires on the distributor. all of that is good. what is the likelyhood of the crank sensor giving out due to water? it was completely submerged. thats my best guess as of right now, especially since it doesnt have spark.

Where and how are you testing for spark? Take the cap off and inspect the rotor and it's friction points.

If the CPS is intact, no broken/exposed wires, it's probably fine. If in doubt, it is very easy to test with a DMM.

the cap and rotor look fine. i checked for spark just by trying to get one of the plug wires to arc on something.

i also hooked up a digital multimeter and only got 43ohms reading across the connector. from what ive been reading i should get somewhere around 540ohms.

By the looks of your engine bay I'm never moving farther north of Austin. Also did you still have the splash shield installed underneath?

no, splash shield was not installed. this wouldnt have happened if the car wasnt so low

btw i found the problem. timing belt snapped. broke two rockers. id hope that if the rockers broke then the valves are okay. but i doubt that.

Um....the rockers broke because the pistons smoked the valve and drove it into the rocker.

pretty sure he knows that, but he's hoping the rockers were weak enough to snap before the valves bent. Seriously wishful thinking.
