    69,500 mile engine pics!!!

Okay, this is my first members rides thread, and it doesnt even have pics of my car in it.

I just thought I would share pics of my topless motor with you guys for the hell of it...

and the nasty, filthy, intake manifold...

Your cylinder head is suprisingly clean. What oil do you use? There is some yucky grime in your intake and intake ports though. Time for some valve clean. Are you painting your intake and valve cover?

I just wanted to throw in my new injectors... but then started playing with the intake... then managed to somehow pull the intake manifold... then the valve cover, so now i want to clean and paint em!

BUT, its raining outside now :( I dont want to risk getting water in the engine bay, so the hood stays shut for now. B

But yeah, the plans are to paint the valve cover wrinkle black and polish the raised parts, then spray the intake manifold in high temp silver (it reads, "aluminum" on the can).

The intake manifold has some shitty grime in it, doesnt it? The head is very clean compared to most I have seen on here. I haven't switched to synthetic or anything, just did regular because the previous owner (old lady) used regular and didn't really drive it much.

Little tip for you. When you go to put it back together that breather tube below the intake with the spring on it can be a pain in the A#$. Take a couple zip ties and compress the spring and zip tie it compressed, then slide it over the tube. That makes it MUCH easier to put the intake on. Once it's all together just snip the zip ties off.

I have a question since one of ya'll mentioned the oil in coolant. How often does a head gasket need to be changed?

It shouldn't "need" replacing unless it goes bad.

It's not a fun thing to replace anyways, so this is good.

Are you suggesting trade my unpainted pieces for your painted pieces?

That is nice if that is what you had in mind, even if u asked for some cash on top of that, but I take pride in my own work...

Also, I have seen different paint schemes done, and I settled on wrinkle black valve cover with polished raised letters, and a silver intake manifold. The black manifolds dont provide enough contrast for my liking.
