word, i've done that. definitely helps your concentration and focus on other things than shifting and clutchingstaying in one gear
and watch out, the r3v police will get on you for encouraging people to track their car, especially without piling on a million mods!!!! oh noes!Comment

Who's track prepped M3 is that? Does he go on mountain drives?
I really wish that I could have made that event. The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.Comment

It's only a petty variance with the RZs. Any reason why you ask? I can get you a side by side pic later on if you're in a life and death situation
Who's m3 are you talkin about Morgan?
This stuff beats mountain drives for sure..
All I know about the race prepped e36 is it's an ITS car that HAULS. It's as fast if not faster than the black e36 which is a boosted 325iS. Both guys were good drivers too and it was pure pleasure watching them on the track at the same time

The red one? I just remember a M3 from one of the mountain drives that was gutted and race prepped. He was pulled for having Lexan windows.Originally posted by e9nineWho's m3 are you talkin about Morgan?
The only severly cool car we had with our group was a race prepped Scooby Doo. The guys were doing final tuning for running it in a few race series. I only wish I had a chance to ride along.
Did y'all have an instructor? I'm guessing you did. We were just winging it, but I still had a great time. Can't say I learned all too much though, but I got more confidence in driving the car. I think I threw down a 1:22 as my best time.
That surely is more fun than a mountain drive, but I don't know if I could keep on dropping the change required to a track day. Plus, the mountain seneic routes are better to look at. ;) Seriously, let me know when you're going next. I'd love to tag along. The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.Comment

I agree wholeheartedly. this is why I haven't been afraid of autoxing my automatic. I get lots of "huh?" looks but the sad part is I'm faster than a lot of cars that I shouldn't be.Don't sleep on your driver's education. To start off, spend money on perfecting your driving even if you start of in a $500 m10 or eta.
BTW I like the 15s better than what you have in your sig.. the wheels in your sig just look goofy somehow.Comment

17 vs 15 -- It's a toss. I like both. The 15s now look puny to me though
Morgan - That guys car isn't an m3, it's a 325iS ;). We didn't have instructors. Just experienced people out there. I'll let you know when the next one is, getting yourself disciplined on the right foot is so much easier than unlearning bad habits (that's me till this date). I look at it this way, with track or performance driving, don't race against the clock, getting a good time is the effect of smooth precise driving. I can almost wager a case of beer that since you went solo, a lot of your lines were jacked up. There is no shame in admiting that I had a few wrong lines as well but learning isn't shameful in this case; it's fun!
I don't think I will do aggressive mountian drives no more, I do it for the scenery as well but when you're behind the wheel you can't enjoy the sights unless you're driving slowly or stopped. I have been to the mountains twice so far and one time there was gravel and sand in some of the turns (to comabat the ice @ night) which I didn't find amusing at all and the other time I saw a cop hidden in the trees during my descent (I was driving slow due to traffic, had it not been for that I would've gotten clocked).
Enjoying cars the right and responsible way costs money. $120 isn't that much money and I prefer little talladega over the mountain drives personally.
