    Yep, that's what I meant!

This bit of info from the Shortened Koni Writeup I posted back on p. 4 confused me, so I just wanted to make sure I could re-use the stocker.

"You have to reuse the threaded ring from your ix Koni insert to hold the strut, as the "race" insert does not come with one."

Oh, and they are actually 2.1" shorter, to be exact, I found out!

...now if only someone would buy my 16g and oil feed line so I could pick these struts up and finish the dang thing.

Does anyone know where to get a threaded ring from the stock length iX Koni insert? The shortened 'race' ones do not come with it, and I believe I need that specific threaded ring to mount 'em up.

in for GCs, de-rusting info. Afraid to check the floorpans on my IX coupe (build/progress thread in sig)..

if your undercarriage has that much rust you should definitely check the fuel and brake hard lines.. my rears were toast.
I'm equally as afraid to lift my carpet. My issue is still finding the freaking parts. I really didn't think it would be this difficult, but it has proven itself otherwise. I actually got my stock bumpers restored, and they look perty good! Now I just need a valance, fenders, and hood that no one seems to have.

The GCs are ready to go on, just waiting for me to bite the bullet on the shortened Konis I have yet to purchase.

Haha thanks man. The Evo has taken over my 'car' time these days, but come Spring I'll get back to it.

I have a spare iX block now, so a 2.8L build will be in progress soon! The plan is to run an M52 crank, ETA rods, and i pistons, while running the R3V crank spacer.

That whole lifting thing was a joke :D. Ground Controls are almost ready to go on!

I had all the parts I need lined up at Bimmer Buddies, and Dave ceased communication for some unknown reason, so now I feel it will be another three months before I find a valance, hood, and fenders close by Philly.

There are a lot of fortunate things about this:

-I didn't have my fresh bumpers on the car
    -The foglights were shot anyway
    -It wasn't in the Evo

    I have, however, learned this:

Below freezing temps + sleet + shiesty turn + new chip that threw me into lightspeed + summer tires = bad combination.

I'm just hoping I can find a valance, 'i' fenders, and a radiator in a decent time frame, as there doesn't seem to be much out there.

I'm reconsidering the lowering in exchange for a lift kit and steel bumpers.

    Why, you may ask?

Very nice. That sounds exactly like what I'm going for, so I'm sure it'll be enjoyable! The car is a daily and always will be so I have to keep telling myself that as I purchase parts.

I got some work done today!

    SSSquid Chip
-Stage 2 (Bimmerheads Cam coming shortly)
    -93 Octane
    -17lb Injectors (M50)

I can't give enough thanks to Jesse (SSSquid). Great guy, super easy to work with, with an incredible product to boot. The startup/first drive was on 87 octane, as that's what I had in my tank at the time, and even with the 87 in there the chip made the car feel so much more responsive and run far smoother than it ever did. I have high hopes for when the cam comes in.

    Parts:

    These things were disgusting:
