Not saying strip the car permanently, just wondering why you wouldn't minamise weight to get the best time and most fun out of the car on the track..

Also, in my experience at the track M3 seats, of any generation, do not support the driver enough, especially when you're dealing with a fairly quick car like yours. Great for the road, but once you start piling through the turns, you'll need something more heavily bolstered and tighter to hold you in place.

I've got a mate that tracks his E36 M3 and has a pretty good system for it: takes a friday off work, pulls out back seat, back carpet, door panels and glovebox. Pulls driver's seat out and installs his ready-to-go Sparco fixed-back unit (will have one for the passenger soon, too). Has a blast on the saturday at the track, swaps everything back in on sunday, washes it and has it ready for his monday commute to work.

    Just a thought...

I don't think Jordan needs to strip his car down for his first outting at the track.

I don't carry a spare. A 8.5 DS2 with a 245/40 on it doesn't fit in the well, and even if you jump on it to make it fit it gets stuck with about 2.5in still sticking out. Wheel and tire shops are so everywhere its not worth it to me to carry the weight.

I have the M3 back seat, and it seriously weighs nothing. like 12lbs if I recall. Just foam and leather. Only about .5oz of paper in my glovebox, and it isn't heavy itself either... This car will never be a serious enough tracker to feel the need to gut such items.

I was running sans trunk carpet for a long while, but it looked ghey and I carry alot of stuff back there.. for the 4lb weight penalty I put it back in.

I've got no complaints about the vaders as far as bolstering goes.

the best thing to do for a DE is to run the car as it is so you can have a baseline of where to go. seats however make a big diff. you can ask todd, he would have bruises from tracking his Ti cause he'd always brace himself in the turns with his left leg against the door. shells greatly help to keep your focus on driving rather than staying in the seat.

Really? Zero total toe is something I've done for cars that are 100% track duty, but never on a street car.

                Great looking car Jordan!!!

and I disagree with all the haters... I like the wheels and I LOVE the painted moldings... fuck the contrast... however... if you had the wheels powdercoated in gunmetal they would be even hotter!!!

BTW... what kind of rear apron is that?

i ran 4pt harnesses with my sport seat, and i didnt fucking budge, it was amazing. i couldnt even reach the radio. after doing an autoX without harnesses and constantly thinking about bracing myself, i spent the $$ and bought the harnesses. jordan, i'd highly reccomend getting a set of even the clip in 4pt harnesses before your track day. you wont regret it.

I definately like harnesses. All the racecars I test drove at Terrys were all cages and harnesses. Alot of the time I had to adjust them to be able to reach 5th ha.

Heh, I've raced on MUCH shittier stock seats than the M3 seats (or the E30 seats for that matter). Just have to keep your foot firmly on the dead pedal during a turn... heh
