    Teej,
I've actually got all new insulation and exhaust heat shielding in that area on order at the dealer right now. Mine started crumbling like Matt's did. It's kind of expensive, but the parts counter guy hooks me up with 20% off. :)

    DEVO,
What is TSP? I went through a whole spray bottle of Simple Green and lots of patience! But even that only gets it so clean. I'm going through with a cleaner wax now, which brings out a little more dirt. I just need to get ahold of some touch up paint now for a few areas.

I'm really stuck on the fence on this project though. Ultimately, I'd really like to pick up an M3 rolling shell to finish the project, and sell my E30 as a rolling shell.

TSP=Tri-Sodium Phosphate. Want to scrub walls in a smokers house, clean your driveway, chemical burn your skin == TSP. Simple green is much more friendly to work with.

Masochism is fun for the whole family though. Strangely enough it didn't burn my hands, just mixed with water too.

Sorry I couldnt make my way back to winston sooner. Ive got to stay up here in Boone and wait for my new seat brackets for the recaros, but you guys know this because I keep telling you this everytime you tell me to get my ass home. I should have all my parts on tuesday though so plan to see me then and help with the last few things on your motor swop if its not done yet.

The motor swap looks like its coming along nicely though. Keep up the work and get it done because I know we will need a car to run to advance and pick up some ramdon bs tool like always when we work on my car...

Sorry I couldnt help once again, but next time I will be there!

                  Dave

#1) You pulled it out with the shifter and exhaust? Holy shit. PB is your friend. Could you not get the bitch clip off?
#2) Why is that every fucking shot of an e30 being worked on has the grills removed? Does it makes it seem that much more "badass"? Not ripping on you guys, just a rant in general.
This would be a good time to install a cam and some headers :)

We removed the grills so the hood could be opened enough to allow easy access to the hinge hardware.

Not to e30matt, when unbolting hood and reinstalling hood do it in the "popped but not open" position

                        Much easier :)

Nice noise. Mileage on the new engine?

True. When you pop it its easy to get to the bolts from underneith.

Update on the swap: engine is in, had to solve a couple of coolant leaks which were nothing more than hose clamps that were a little loose. Hop in, turn the key, and... nothing. I can hear the ICV humming and relays clicking, but no starter. We're eating real quick and then we're going to go out and check the starter connections and the ground from the engine block to the chassis. Any other ideas?
