SLC: 1989 Zinno coupe. Superlight, Super Functional *6spd swap inside*

more progress recently. reinforced my subframe with the tabs from garagistic. also added a piece of steel to the bottom of it because it was a little beat up from the floor jack. also got my throwout bearing from ECS so i was able to stick the engine and trans together for a test fit. got the engine/trans set in the car on the motor mounts to figure out what i needed to do as far as a trans mount. i determined that with the e90 trans bracket bolted to the trans i just needed to extend the crossmember to make up for the extra length of the 6spd (garagistic makes a kit of laser cut brackets to do this but i made my own because im a hillbilly on a budget). i also had to fill the original holes for the trans mounts and drill new ones about 1/2" inward on either side to line up with the trans bracket. i am currently waiting on two orders of parts. one from FCP euro with my clutch slave cylinder, and 2 t studs for the trans bracket (i'm adding extra mounting points to ensure the extended trans mount holds up). the second order from ECS tuning has all of the components for the shifter and my e34 throttle cable. here are some photos along the way:

Yeah dude looking good! That trans brace extension is legit. Grab some muriatic acid for the whole front subframe and you'll eat the flash rust and the hot rolled steel mill scale all in one go for paint. Keep motoring (yar har har) on!

fuck registration. It's so dumb anyway. I can understand once a decade, but every year you have to register it for what? what is the honest purpose of registration? especially if you're not required to take safety or emissions every year.

car has failed emissions 3 times over the past two weeks. 3rd try was after a new dizzy cap, new plugs, fuel additive, and fixing a broken o2 sensor wire. the car was running pretty rich for a while and i ignored it so i think i roasted the cat. with as busy as i am with other stuff like a new job and my house i think im just going to not worry about getting it to pass and not register the car so i can put it on stands and tear the m20 out to do my swap. i now have a m50tu, 330i zf 6 speed, and some other goodies to install.

Yes! I think you're going to love it man! Cat is a pretty easy fix but why not go full hog!
