    spring in Michigan

Now im no professional photographer, and im still learning how to use my camera. but this is what i intended to do when i bought it. so a good friend Karl and i went out and shot some photos.

im really excited for the snow to melt and get back behind the wheel of this car. our cars are far from perfect but we love them just the same. enjoy.

Well yea when your talking collectible cars a dot- r panel can chop the cars value in half. But when your talking about your average e30 id just replace the panel. I think my e30 has 1 original panel haha.

yeah if i ever end up doing anything with my paint ill take your advise.
for now im not going to worry about it.

and yes i understand when using body filler is needed, and that it is useful in a lot of aspects of not only restoring cars, but repairing new cars.

basically the point of my little bitch fit, is that i didn't know there was body filler in the random spots of the car. i would prefer an unmolested e30 as much as anyone. and thats what i thought i had Besides the sunroof of course.

Exactly. And if there was ever rust repair your gotta fill the warpage from welding.

Unless you have a magnet in your pocket and run it over each panel (every area of the panel) you would never know if there was the proper amount of bondo (actually it should be called body filler as Bondo is crap, but Rage Gold is awesome!)

Bondo is a product name that applies to one specific type of body filler and the technology behind body fillers has evolved greatly.

Any dings and dents should be massaged out so that there is just a small layer of body filler being applied. Otherwise there may be adhesion issues and cracking associated with deeper amounts.

So grind off the body filler and then grind an inch or so around the outer area that the body filler was removed from. Pound out the dent from the inside using the proper body hammer and dolly. Then use body filler to make the panel smooth. Apply glaze to fill any pinholes (With Rage Gold there really wont be any and it sands like butter) then prime , wetsand, paint , clear, colorsand , cut and polish! Done!

You'll find body filler on pretty much every car that's ever been repainted. If the dent is bad, hammer it out, or cut/weld a replacement. But you'll still need a little body filler to get it perfect, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Idk to each his own. Bondo doesn't bother me one bit. It's pointless though to put bondo on panels that can easily be replaced. That's just being cheap IMO.

i would much rather have dents vs. bondo.

In this case the po filled in a dent with body filler. its pointless.
Even if it is done perfect its still ugly like a girl with makeup.

Bondo doesn't hurt any car it's really only the purist that care. Most people if it's done properly will never notice there's bondo on there car. And m3's aren't the only car to bring back. Seen my build thread makes that statement redundant. I was saying a pristine m3, or Shelby gt350 those are the types of cars you freak out about when it's covered in bondo.

no offense taken, i dont know why i care either, i see SO many clean e30s, and i just want one. haha

but in all reality im just going to hoon my car and not worry about it. if i think about it i got a free swapped car so i shouldn't be complaining too much.
