I'm going to look at a 90' M3 zinna/black with no motor on Friday. No rust. Full interior and suspension. Hoping I can score it for under $8k so I can build another S54 beast.
    90 should be Brillant red?

I'll re-verify. Still haven't seen the car yet....but the anxiety is killing me. My 89' is a Zinno.

FYI- My friend just bought a 90' salmon/black 5 minutes ago from a Private seller for <$15k. Has a bit of rust but its all original. Literally 5 minutes ago. Deals are still out there from uneducated sellers.

          89 is a split year.

Bit of rust.....I have seen that story of just a bit go down the wrong path. Hope it was not created by a former member here.

*freshm3 you should creat another thread so the OP's thread does not get derailed.

Keep at it OP now we should resume with regularly scheduled programming.

Seen my build thread Yea that was supposed to just be a bit of rust.... Over all though if it does have just a little 15k is to bad i guess depends on the mileage and condition

I once bought a car (not an E30) with a "bit of rust" In fact, the reason I bought the car was because it had so little rust (and it was cheap - $500). After digging into it, I found that it has A LOT of rust. I'm really wary buying any older car on the east coast, now. Got pretty lucky with my E30 though. No rust whatsoever.

Not to be a dick but he was about 17 years old i think. I talked with him for a bit and you could just tell he didn't know anything about working on cars nor did he have the skills nor resources to undertake a restoration project as in depth as this.

So, basically, you told him you were going to research it and try to buy it? or you were not trying to be a dick by resoning out that he didn't deserve it as much as you did?

I think he means that the kid would have been in wayy over his head. Nothing regarding who "deserved it more" but more of a "who has the better resources/chances" to complete the restoration.

                                Congrats OP

The least you could do is offer the kid who helped you find the car a cash reward. I mean honestly, give him 1grand for helping you find it, isn't going to break you. Given how much that thing in rough shape is worth (even a cleaned up shell is worth 10-15g's).

Pay it forward, do the right thing. I'm sure you'll make his day
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!
