Well I do this stuff for a living so Im at least not paying "M" motor labor upcharge haha.

Ive been looking into S38 parts prices and theyre no more ridiculous than stuff of the same caliber for any other motor. It will by no means be cheap, but not ungodly expensive compared to some other stuff Ive come across.

This is at least a year off before it comes out. M20 will be running within about 2 weeks.

M20 will most likely go in a 2002 while the S38 thing gets built.

ITBs probably wont fit off the S38 Josh because its a big 6 versus our little 6s.
              Im now E30less.

Ah yes, you're right. Oh well. Man, wouldn't that be badass if they did fit?

Diblas, of course, you'd have to mod the head to get any gain of it.

Yeah, and let's not forget that it costs what, like $4-5k?

Great Buy Jon. But the fuel costs are going to kill you on that beast. ;)
I'm driving my fathers M5 right now, and those motors have a bigger appetite for fuel than the QE2. Its a great motor, but IMHO, similar to S5x motors, much to heavy for the front of the e30. How intense of a refresh do you plan on doing?

                            And to correct the mis-information:
                            1) No an S38 and S14 are not identical. No, no, no. Its not just the same motor with 2 extra cylinders.
                            2) TB's will not mount to M20. Way far off, port designs are vastly different, and linkages are a PIA to mate. (Yes, anything can be done with money... I know).
                            Below the radar...

                              Very Nice motor.

I'm trying to source a 3.6 or 3.8L S38 from an E34 M5 (or just the entire car)

One of my projects for 2007/2008, mine will be 100% N/A though.
