my 325e, what to do, sell or modify?

ok folks, been on this forum for awhile but never posted my ride, but here it is, and im kindof in a cafuffle lol. i just sold my honda and have this e30 to either tinker with, or to sell and do some other project. So, heres my budget, 3100 canadian. the car is near mint, minus a couple rust spots but nothing major, could be fixed for a couple hundred. either way, the car has around 280,000 kms on it. so its quite high, it still runs and drives not bad.

the car is pretty rare i guess for the area, it has a full m-tech 1 kit, euro houndstooth interior.

heres a pic of it, what should i do with my 3100 bucks

If the body is solid, and not infested with rust, fix what rust you have, fix the suspension (i.e., make sure its all in good working order), and put an M20B25 in it.

You'll have money left over - lots.

When I first read "high mileage eta" I was going to sugguest finding a newer E30, but if its got an M-tech I kit and a houndstooth interior I'd say hang on to it. If anything, you could buy a lower mileage chassis and swap everything over as mentioned before, or do a motor swap on your car, but you've got a keeper there I think.

you won't get much for it, maybe $1200. just keep it and swap in another motor/suspension, the mtech kit alone is worth a good bit.

hehe ive got alot of pics of this car. I have a buyer for around 3k canadian but im not sure if i want to let it go. and im also not sure if it would be worth it to keep it and fix the rust and drop a different motor into it.

what are some affordable swaps/best bang for the buck

thanks for all the info guys

                    cheers,

also you dont find rust free e30s where i am lol, so finding a rust free, lower kms chassis would be very hard to find. this is one of the best examples of an e30 from here. location is edmonton, alberta, canada

Keep it. If it's rare and in good condition for your area, you would regret selling it. Also, if it has an LSD, that's a plus.

As for upgrades [to the current engine], i've read that eta's respond well to chips like the JC chip, and I would also swap in an 'i' exhaust just because. Or esle, since your car has high miles, go for a more complete 'i' conversion like new valve springs, cam, intake, exhaust, and ecu to sort of renew the engine. I don't know how far 3100 Canadian will get you and I have yet to try these upgrades myself however... Or else just go for new shocks and sways and engine swap.

im not sure if the car has an LSD or not, any way i could tell without opening it up, such as some stamp code, or something. The car has a Dinan Racing chip i guess, not sure how i would tell if it did but the PO said it has one. I drove the car around today, its pretty peppy, now im thinkin i should keep it. Just I'd like to do a swap with my 3100 bucks, anyone know of where i can pick up and engine and get it shipped to me for that price.

                            cheers,

M badges were factory on the M-technik kits. It's the only requirement.
