...well hello, I guess?
It’s been a while, hope you’re doing well. A few weeks ago I stumbled across this thread and even found my old login details, so I thought I’d give a little update.
A lot has happened over the past 9 years, but the short version is: I still have both of my E30s.
The red one has been fully restored and is now almost finished. I honestly never thought I’d get this far. The engine has been completely rebuilt, and the interior is just the way I always wanted it. Next on the list is installing air conditioning and doing a 5x120 conversion with bigger brakes.
As for the silver one, which I never really planned to do much with, things kind of escalated there too. It got an M42 swap, coilovers, fully refurbished axles, a complete 318is interior swap, and also a 5x120 conversion with bigger brakes.
Both have their very own character: the red one is pretty much perfect, while the silver one is a proper rowdy with patina but excellent mechanics.
I even recreated a photo from the first page. Still working at H-D, by the way.
I wanted to relocate the washer fluid reservoir (because ugly as f...). Unfortunately, I forgot to remove a bolt in the process, so I had to come up with a solution. The solution: Lego Star Wars. It gets a laugh every time, so it stays.
At the moment, I have a fantastic project in the garage: an original 318is with only 64,352 km! The car is completely rust-free, spent 14 years in dry storage, and I’m now bringing it back to life. The owner is an elderly gentleman (80 years old), and his son, who is very busy with work.
They entrusted me with the car after a chat at a classic car rally. The plan is PU bushings, a Fox exhaust system, KW coilovers, and a complete refresh.
If anyone has questions, I won’t wait another 10 years to check back in 😉.

thank you!
look at the corner behind the headlight, right where the aircon dryer bottle would sit.
The setup is as follows:
- The container and pump are from the camping accessories. They fit almost perfectly in the space of the original air conditioning dryer bottle.
- A TPU seal is attached to the container (...green, because nothing else was available)
- Then the angled adapter ensures a perfect alignment with the original hole.
- Finally, a cover that screws the two parts together, allowing you to install the OE cap.
- it fits perfectly with the fog light and lower wheel house trim/cover (?)..you know what i mean.
The reservoir has a capacity of 1.2 liters, and the pump generates sufficient pressure. Since I don't need much of it in a summer car anyway, this is an ideal solution for me.
