u know, i was noticing that the gear ratios are really low 'cause i'd get to redline, and still feel like i have more power to go, but i'd get ther SO quick.. hmmm....

to save my good grace while i"m lookin at my engine.. what am i lookin for? i'm assuming Carbs would be a BAD thing, but when i was lookin under the engine bay earlier (when i bought it) i didn't see any, and i was looking for oil leaks/other leaks mainly (plus i bought it at night time).
PS- anyway to switch just the Tach to make it match up? know where i can find a tach?

I like the car a lot.. however if its not the right engine to be doing what I want and bought the car for... I'd still feel scammed.
i may not require the seller to take back the car, but i feel like i was scammed slightly (should the engine be wrong).
Will post pics ASAP tomorrow, as soon as i get my oil done. (damm living in the dorms, no garage to change my own oil.. what has the world come to).
PS- anyone in the Pomona area?

I paid $1800 for it.. supposed to be 2K but the guy offered me 1800 after he said that the customer that came 20 min. before me said he would pay 1800.. then left to ask his girlfriend...
i wasn't gonna haggle with him at all, but i had the cash, i was there... and the guy knew that, so gave it to me for 1800
he is no scam artist, a grandfather who now drives a slk, and had this E30 for quite a while.
i would poste them now.. but its too dark outside to take decent pics.
sticks on the back window are barb wire... dun ask, i'll take 'em off.

Ha I won't ask! 1800 sounds pretty damn good even if it turns out to be an eta motor! Looks to me like you made a graet choice in buying that car! Hey, did you notice the oil cooler in the front bottom of the front clip? It takes up those lower center holes between the break ducts? Kinda looks like a small radiator, bout 3 inches tall by a foot and a half long.Yours truly,

well besides a TACH (assuming its the is motor-btw what is the engine code on the "right" engine for my car) I need to get:
Passenger side Window Switch is umm.. iffy, works if u know how to treat it like a bitch.
the wiring/electrics are kinda iffy, i noticed tonight that on my "airplane" warning lights that the "rear lights" LED came on, one of the lights in rear was not working.. i smacked (lovingly) the plastic, and it came on.. but the light did not go off inside.
ALso the coolant light on that cluster refuses to turn off, even though the coolant level is good (and clean coolant) and the engine is runnin at below the midway point on the temp gauge on the instrument cluster.

The ligh deal happens to mine as well. Give it a slap, then turn the car off and on afgain tap the break pedal and it should be ok! The coolant temp sensor is your problem, they go out all the time. It is the wire leading to the top of your coolant resevior. Two choices, replace or jump the connection. Thos thing go bad all the time. mine falls off when making a quick left and that light comes on. The reason I asked about the oil cooler is etas didn't come with them.Yours truly,
