Thanks! I'll be much happier when it's a manual and the suspension isn't crap, but overall it's pretty nice.

The parts car does manage to look good in photos, but it's pretty rough. Tons of good parts though- corbeau seats, e30 m3 rear seat, is skirts & lip, momo wheel, SS exhaust, etc.. I think it was a pretty nice car earlier in it's life.

I think it's safe to say the teardown is complete.

I'm struggling with direction on this build. Seeing as the car has so few miles and almost completely unmolested, it is hard for me to say what is taking it too far.

Picked up a 5 lug swap and 323ti suspension from Denmark. This should be interesting.

Nice e30 Vert, I love that your hardtop has a rack...Where did you pick it up from? I just picked up another vert yesturday with hardtop and it would be nice to have rack on top for my bikes.

It was on the car when I bought it, but I have since sold the rack - not a big roof rack fan.

It appeared to be a thule rack with some custom made brackets to allow it to mount to the stock vert trim mounting points. It was pretty nifty.

              Update:

Auto transmission came out last weekend and 5 spd should be in this weekend. I picked up a transmission jack, which should help a lot. List of things to be done has grown quite a bit at this point:

              5 speed swap
              5 lug swap
              lowtec 70/30 suspension install
              All new brakes
              SS bake lines all around
              RTAB & Subframe poly bushings
              Complete reseal of rear diff
              Complete reseal of getrag g260
new clutch master & slave cylinder
              new UUC SS clutch line
              new sachs clutch
              new transmission bushings (OEM)
              New flex disc
              All new fluids everywhere
              New shift carrier bushing
Had the rear seat back repaired
Rear subframe is going to the powdercoater next week.
Paint coupe trunk and install - will be my first attempt at painting any body panels.

Have all of the above parts, so I'm hoping to crank out quite a bit this long weekend. Unfortunately, a tree branch fell and put a hole in my hardtop so I've got to either get a new soft top or fix my hardtop before the interior can go back in. I'll have to snap some photos of progress (or lack there of) this weekend.

Thank you! They are 70mm drop front / 30mm drop rear, but for a 323ti so I'm not sure what that will be on the e30. The rears are the same height as the FKs that were on the parts car (pretty low). The lowtecs should be a bit more stiff than the FK's but the vert is also heavier, so I think it should be a similar height.

Front struts fully extended are around 23" which, I believe, will make it pretty low up front too. We will see.

Rear of parts car for reference:

Looks good, are you going to protect the pan with a skid plate?

Yeah, I plan on it. I did the race skids plate on a previous e30, but I wanted to see how low it sat before buying one. I already have a ton of money into the project since buying in July, so I'd like to push some expenses off if I can. Granted that includes two parts cars.

Damn, that parts car though. The Vert also looks pretty sweet, love the roof rack removable hard top.

Parts car was a rusty bucket, but the parts list on it was impressive. The vert on the other hand is very clean.

Auto transmission out. A proper amount of pedals in. New master cylinder and new clutch lines installed. Momo wheel refinished and installed.

                            Momo before:

                            and after:

Looks like I'll be selling the 5 lug swap, so time to rethink the suspension.

Absolutely is. I ended up running a ratchet strap from the guibo to the subframe in order to yank it off.

Everything just got a whole lot better from here, as new parts start to go in. This weekend I should have the resealed g260 in, along with new clutch, lightened flywheel and new pilot bearing and a slew of other new parts. Maybe the car will move itself again sometime soon.

just a taste of all the new..
