thats not what i meant, it was more of a general question..more for myself actually, i wanna run a roll bar on the street with the option to run harnesses for track days etc... therefore buying a bar like this with no cross bar already install on the main hoop, and then putting in my own cross bar on the rear support bars so that it is further away from me in the event of a bad accident on the street.

I've considered it, doubt I will get one though.

auto power sells the padding too.

My brother had one custom made with a removable cross bar. It's sweet.

I like it, it's exactly what I've been looking for. Where can you find them on the east coast?

as asked before, do you notice any higher stability b/c of the roll bar? or notice anything at all when driving for that matter?

If anyone answers 'yes' in regards to a bolt in roll bar - placebo effect.

People here are so eager to say, "why do you need it?" But really - what's it to you? There's nothing "I'm just asking" about it - it only makes you look like a misinformed asshole.

How is it misinformed to ask that question? I'd say the misinformed assholes are the people running roll bars on the street with stocks seats and no harnesses - no padding either for Christ's sake!

                            sure it does.

integrated roll cage would stiffen up the chassis

but a roll bar like this is basically a hoop bolted into the floor. how would it stiffen the car by any means?

You seem to be awfully defensive there bro, hitting a little too close?

It looks really silly for a car that has never seen a track in its life to run around on the streets with a rollbar. Makes about as much sense as people that buy 2k worth of adjustable suspension components so they can raise and lower their cars for their parking lot photoshoots.

It screams "poseur" and "riceboy" a lot louder than a big aluminum wing or some type R decals. It's as bad as the guys that show up for an HPDE1 with 4 rolls of wanker tape on the front of their cars.

There's no way I'd put up with the hassle of a bar in a daily driven street car. At least one that initially had more than two seats.

Bro, like I told you on bimmerforums, you gotta take out that cross brace first, otherwise, it's gonna give you 5 more days of headaches. The VSR bar sits flush to the roof of the car, which actually does help stiffen some components marginally.
