Do you have Facebook? Feels like status updates in here...nice e30 though! That drive shaft twisted because you have an SETA and an insane amount of torque, with great power comes great responsibility, remember those sage words when you harness the power of the SUPER ETA!

Hahahaha i guess thats whats happening then, anything BMW related is being transmitted here along with some other stuff i guess.

Snuck down to VA Beach the other day, met a really cool guy named chris who had an unfortunate end with his E30, but it has allowed me to acquire this...
      Meet Mr.M50 no-vanos.

Sorry about the tall images, i quickly snapped them while loading/unloading.
Engine has about 150k miles on it, but i can tell its been very well kept as the cams have little to no oil burn or scoring on the lobes.

I am very excited to say a swap is in my future. ;D ;D
      Things i have
      >M50
      >Trans
      >ECU
      >Harness
      >Shifter linkage and short shifter
      >Driveshaft
      >Motor mount arms
      >exhaust Y-pipe

      Need
      >Tranny mounts
      >Coolant hoses
      >Throttle cable
      >Brake Booster
      >exhaust
      >Fluids
      >Gasket refresh
      >misc bolts

So m50 is looking good for my cars future. I got my fuel pump replaced and finally put in my ski pass rear seat, and a fully functioning replacement passenger seat. Interior is very mismatched but pretty pretty. ;D

      :D

Id rather build a SUPER eta than a M50. You can make more power with the single cam. Do it, all the hipsters are doing it. 24v's are so '00s

thats a NON- Vanos M50 also

I've already built a M52 and would love to have a super eta to build. If you want to waste your money on that POS m50 thats up to you, Im just offering unsolicited advice

All of this. You will be bored of that M50NV in no time. Unless you wanna boost, then that could yield some nice hoonage.

The vanos is why I enjoy daily driving my e36 so much more than my e30, honestly.

Ive already said this before but i love my m20 very much and as much as i would like to just keep that and boost it the m50 is something different that im interested in tinkering with. I wanted non-vanos because i eventually plan to boost and 24v because i just wanted to be different from what everyone else in my area has. So sue me i guess.

Not sure why people think the Vanos is bad for turbocharging. You're still using an inferior M50 setup... but I digress, build up that non-vanos, turbo it and go hooning. Plus its a known fact that turbocharging a M20 is a bad idea

VVT is harder and more expensive to tune... thats my only turn off.
