80k 325i Convertible Barn Find "Sun Machine"

Hey guy's, I just picked up yet another e30 convertible today and had to share this one. Its a all original 80,303 mile convertible that's been sitting for years in a barn. 11 years to be exact, it's been locked away under a car cover not being enjoyed.

The dad who sold it to me (it was his fathers car) was telling me getting in and out of such a small car was to much of a hassle for his dad so the car just sat. Non of the grand kids wanted it, in fact they sold this to buy a truck. $9xx in back fees.. Glad I wasn't the one who payed them. Also yes, the odometer is still counting. I was worried shitless about a minimum 15 year old timing belt snapping on me, but it did make it a mile around the block and I saw the trip meter counting and it added a mile to the ODO. The title show's 1,500 miles less all the way back from 2004 then what the cars ODO is reading now. In other words that means they put on under 1,600 miles in the 11 years they owned it. Interiors in awesome shape, can't believe how soft and subtle the seats are. I'm dead serious, the seats still have the "new car smell" to them. The dash is dusty, but I think all crack free. The top was replaced at one point, however it was a quality unit put on. And speaking of the top, the owner claims the electric top works but occasionally needs help.. we'll see how that goes when I try it in the next couple weeks.

No engine pics but both exhaust manifold heat shields are in great shape, and no engine oil leaks I could spot with my flashlight. Tires have a ton of rubber with no sidewall cracking but there old.. hopefully no flat spot's we'll see late on.

The plan for tomorrow is to drain the old gas (otherwise by next week), wash the car from all the dust, along with polishing the plastic window and to start making a list for parts to order. I'm really excited about this one!

    There minty barn/ shed

And It's finally home, already dark out.

It couldn't have worked out better actually, you've seen my street and how bad parking because of all the apartment complex's. I had to sell the black car, impossible to own 3 cars here. The new owner of my black convertible picked it up yesterday, and a few hours later I was on the road to pick up this red one. Sad to see the black one go but having the red one now makes up for it.

Also, it's not the iS style spoiler! Just a stock "i".

                    That's a great looking vert.

And if you want it to keep looking great you will NOT DRIVE ON THOSE TIRES. Seriously dude, replace them right now. Even $80 all seasons are fine, 11 year old tires are just asking to delaminate at speed.

I know, your right. I just figured since they've been out of the sun/ UV light I could possibly get lucky and use them but it's definitely not the best choice. Last thing I want is a chunk of tire to come loose and hit the paint at high speeds, or worse loose control of the car.

Thanks everyone, bout to order a ton of parts tonight to get this thing up to date on maintenance. Tomorrow I'm going in to get the car in my name, and possibly a new set of plates.

                              Looks great!

Normally I'm not a fan of tan leather interiors, but that one is in great shape, and goes well with the red exterior!
