New to the site - I don't own an E30 yet though :(

Well, it took long enough, but I fully admit. I have the E30 fever, really bad - and the only cure will be to buy an E30, S50/52 swap w/ built bottom end and a very large and in charge turbo :D .. which is why I'm here really - I'll mostly be on here lurking and to start doing research for the next project car (as from what I understand, this is one of the better forums for E30 knowledge), which I will hopefully start by about this time next year!

However, for now I do have a E36 M3 Turbo told me over for the time being :) Here's some video of my car (not quite done yet), if you want to check it out .. just to exemplify that I'm not another newbie who talks about building a big car and just randomly disappears from the forums .. oh and the link in my sig is to the write-up I did of my turbo build on BF.c (oh yeah I'm a major DIYer!)

Because they're lighter than E36's .. and they look MUCH cooler IMHO :p More of a sleeper appeal etc etc etc

Sounds like you have some good plans for your e30, welcome. Are you going to be selling your m3 or just adding to your fleet?

Adding to the fleet :) I don't think I could ever actually bring myself to sell the E36, I'd never get enough money for it to cover the time/money/heart/soul that I've put into building this car

Don't have one yet :( I plan on going in a few weeks though - I've only had the car up and running @ nearly 100% for about 2 months now. I am really dying to get to the dyno to see how she does though.

So far the fastest car I've beaten was an old beater Nissan Sentra that had a built motor swap, turbocharged, and ran a 12.13 @ 118 ... and that was a REALLY close race. I was running about 14psi on 110 gas at the time, and was having some spark blow-out problems (at least that's what I'm thinking it was) in the upper RPM range between 6500-7200, so I had to shift a little early. I'm hoping to actually get the car retuned for 15-20psi (whatever gets me up and over 450whp) on 93 gas, .. but that probably won't happen until next Spring - but once that's done, I'm calling the E36 a done project and moving on to the next :)

actually, one thing i really dislike is that they're all rust buckets out here... very hard to find a clean shell.

edit: and you need a sig with your car ;)

I can see that being annoying, as I really do think that they are beautiful cars if they're in good shape. Whenever I pick one up, I definitely plan on fixing up the body panels and getting it repainted (as it will almost undoubtedly need it)

Umm, haven't quite decided, I'm a pretty bland-ish guy though. I was thinking black or dark grey/gunmetal (leaning towards the gunmetal) .. I also kind of liked the blue-ish green that came on some of the FD RX7's

(sorry its a bad picture, but it was the first one that I saw on google image search)

I agree, there is something about them that people love, especially VW owners. I get this all the time:

"nice old school beemer" or "hey wanna sell that" or "I used to have one of those"
