The Road To Monterey. E30 Euro

I've been entrusted to build Jeff Ireland's car that he's taking to Monterey, a 1985 323 Baur. This car is a surviver that's been sitting for a long time, taken apart, painted, then sat for a long time again. So now, it's time to restart the project.
First, pulling removed the entire interior to do some rust repair to the passenger footwell. Not terrible, but needs to be done. Prior to this, the rolling chassis had all the suspension taken down, then power washed underneath. Every moving part of the suspension and steering will have his own design, either from his stock or designed for this car. The driveline is B35, G260, and the original S3.64 diff. The interior is original, redone in black leather. The last thing to do will be having the replacement soft top canvas installed. I'll put up pictures as I take them.

I got a bit ahead of myself. I didn't think about starting a build thread until I was half way done.

We have at least five cars going to Monterey this year, since BMW is the showcased marque. Besides this e30, we have Ron's personal e12 M535 retrofit Took a low mile 528i and transferred over everything from a rusted out M535), a Bat Mobile, A CSL race car that's wearing it's original Martini paint scheme, Probably another 3.0 CSI. So it's busy. Our Taiga CSL took 1st last year if anyone here went. So I'll take random pictures of the other cars and add them here as I get get the chance.

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

So glad to see e12 interest. I didn't take a any pictures personally of the e12 while it we built it, but Stanceworks did a piece on it.

                      Anyway,...

No rust in the trunk, but Por15 'd for long term protection.

                            Nice

What makes that CSL $400K? It's racing history?

It was never raced, it was a street car. It sold for over $400K because of the level of it's restoration, but more importantly, there were only four Taiga green CSL's built.
