    Finally Bought An E30

Flew out to Illinois and drove my first E30 down to Texas. Stopped in St Louis for the night.

Did the timing belt on Friday/Saturday too.

    Interior (mismatched for now)

Interior (it has tiny crack and bubbles in dash pocket area unfortunately, can only see from outside in)

yes?...Although, I think I would be more concerned with if I had some basic tools needed just in case.

The adapters work just fine provided the 12v port works.

I commend people who are keen enough to drive an unknown condition old car 14hrs....If it were me id find a tow car and hire a trailer....

Then you can charge your phone in the tow car :)

Yeah I guess I'm an anomaly? I did have a PPI done, so I was aware of the majority of the flaws/problems. I just looked at it as an adventure. I'd have been sad if it broke down, but I'd just fix it and keep going. My wife ended up coming along too, so that was fun.

It drove all 14 hours just fine! Cruised at about 80-100 mph the whole way, except where traffic and left lane loafers kept me slow.

Something rubs when turning left at low speeds and there's a sound (apart from valvetrain) that I can't figure out yet. Surprisingly everything I've tried works so far.

It took me ten years to get an E30 because I kept trying to convince myself to love a more practical or newer car, and always talked myself out of buying the E30s I came across - or they were so beat to hell I didn't even want to bother. I was also traveling or out of the country for years at a time. I drove a bunch of new cars in the past year now that I'm putting down roots, and decided I still wanted an E30. I'll be putting up with the flaws and fixing whatever I can from here on out.

Proud to finally be an E30 owner. A 1989 zinno 325i coupe w/ 140k miles.

Fair enough - I took some pretty poor quality photos last night at a rest stop. Still need to wash the bugs off of it and find a good spot for some pics.

Good to see that your film knowledge is leaps and bounds better than your car expertise.

                      Lol.

Truly enjoy your e30. I drive mine for a few moments last night and seriously felt blasé about jumping in my e90m3 daily afterward. It's a cult. Immerse yourself.

I've actually done minor mechanical stuff, an engine swap on a another car, simple replacements of stuff, I just had a brain fart because I was getting ready to fly out and trying to think of every little thing. Honestly I should delete that bit... I'll do that lol

Some bad photos. Still haven't had time to clean it thoroughly and find a good spot for a photo shoot. Also decided I should probably do the timing belt before I drive it any more - found the sticker in the file of records - 4/2011, 30K miles ago. Afraid to start it now lol. Ordered a bunch of parts on Pelican and will do the timing belt/water pump/etc soon.

Thanks! There are also bottlecaps with winter tires in the trunk...haha. I don't know what I'm going to do with them...maybe burnouts? No real winter in Texas
