San Mateo's a nice town, won't have to worry about bumper damage unlike San Fransisco :D. Ya I've had the green one posted on Craigslist on and off now for a few weeks, its a solid driver I'm shocked no ones come down to take a look at it. I've been driving it to work actually this entire week since my e46 and Mtech's been down.

So today I spent nearly 4 hours using a tooth brush, sponge, and some wheel cleaner to take off the baked on brake dust these 4 wheels have had on them for who knows how long. Wow was it stubborn! Regardless I'm happy with the results, it was well worth it.

So yesterday after my shift at work I was able to give the car a much needed brake fluid flush. Probably safe to say one hasn't been done in the last 15 years, who knows maybe even 20. Everyone always over looks brake fluid flush's once the warranty period's up. At the same time I gave the car a pretty good inspection underneath and doing so I unfortunately found out it has a open diff and not a LSD :(. I also found lots of spider webs, mud, all that good stuff.

And today I did two small things, I put a brand new OEM roundel on the hood, and installed the rear plate filler. Be careful buying roundels online such as eBay, there's a ton of fakes listed and they even have part number stickers on the packaging! I bought this one from work so I know its the real deal.

So another small update, yesterday I took the front grills off along with the fresh air grills and prepared them for paint. Like always, I used SEM Trim black. Best stuff hands down, and since its a lacquer base paint it drys to the touch in literally seconds. Everything came out awesome, really makes the car pop compared to that faded grey plastic.

I also figured I'd give the front seats a little love and treated them with some meguiars leather conditioner and cleaner. There in such great shape still I'd hate to be the owner who trashed them!

So today the exhaust manifold paint was sitting on my porch by the time I got off work, perfect timing. I set up a little table in the backyard and went to town, few quick coats of paint and on they went. Luckily I grabbed a new stud/ nut today at work too before leaving, I had a feeling the paint was going to be delivered this weekend yet.

I also bleed the cooling system since I removed the thermostat a second time to sand blast it. I couldn't bleed it until today since the exhaust manifolds where off the car and the car needs to be running to bleed it.

Thanks guys! I'm pretty close to having all the bits needed for the swap, but fall short on a few things. I'll need to pick up the Master/ Slave cylinders, a shiftier linkage, tranny cross member/ mounts, new guibo/ center support bearing and a few other small bits. I'm browsing Craigslist currently for parts and found a local guy selling a stock shiftier linkage, crazy guy wants $25 bucks for the damn used part yet brand new they're $26.42! Thank you very much have a nice day.

In other news I finally had a chance to get my thermostat installed again, amazing how nice a freshly sand blasted piece looks in your engine bay. Keep in mind its just sand blasted, not even painted! I also ordered some high temp manifold paint online since none of my local auto parts stores carried cast iron grey VHT exhaust manifold paint..

More updates to come, hopefully I'll be able to start the swap in the next few weekends.

This, I can't believe how much more fun the manual '92 cabrio over the slushbox '90 I had for 16 years.

I'm not sure I want to fix the body blemishes (dings, scratches, fucked up paint) because from a distance it looks great and I am not stressing damaging it currenty.

The Mini must be pretty fun to drive though regardless! My buddy is currently leasing a 2017 model that has, what I believe anyways, BMW's B48 engine installed. The new B series engines there coming out with are pretty crazy, there basically all the same engine besides the fact some have fewer cylinder then others. In other words, each cylinder has the same displacement between 4 and 6 cylinder engines, even pistons/ rods between the the 4 and 6 cylinder models are identical.

Austin funny enough I had no clue you even owned a Mtech, I guess I was just under the assumption you made the Mtech registry thread yet didn't own one lol. If you haven't already you should start a build on it, I don't recall seeing one?

Ok anyways I had a little time after work to get back to business. I finally had a chance to do a valve adjustment and man, was it needed. Every single valve's lash was out of spec, I mean I put a 10" inch feeler gauge in and there was no drag what-so ever on any valve. My co worker was telling me that usually the lash tightens over time rather then seeing a gap increase but I guess in this certain case the gaps just happened to become greater overtime.

I was going to put my freshly sandblasted thermostat housing on but it was getting a little late so I'll have to shoot for later this week.
